Country music reviews

I bought two country CDs recently and I humbly offer my personal review of each.

#1. Big and Rich/Horse of a Different Color: most country fans have already heard of 'Save a Horse...Ride a Cowboy' but it's refreshing to know this CD has more and more than one song to listen to.

I classify the CD as country rock but in a form I've never heard before. It's sprinkled with ol' time country, country rock, blues, soul and humor (you have to listen to the CD to understand the humor thing).

I love Big Kenny's and Rich's very, very unique harmony and if their style catches on I see at least five hits coming off of the CD (if not sven) and, again, if their style catches on I see them re-defining the definition of country rock.

Out of four jugs of moonshine I give the CD a solid.....solid three.

#2. Gretchen Wilson/Here for the Party: featuring her hit, 'Redneck Woman'.

Well, sad to say, I see Gretchen as falling short on this CD. Outside her big hit I see...MAYBE....one other on the CD that will hit the airways.

Although Gretchen is VERY EASY on the eyes, he he he he, I think that is her only draw unless she get's some better material to record.

I see she has two 'new' producers (or, at least, ones that I have heard of yet) but what IS INTERESTING is John Rich (of Big and Rich...above) is an Associate Producer.

I'm not sure if they cranked out a quick CD or if the producers just lack 'popularity savy'...I'm not sure.

Anyway, I'm not impressed with this CD and I give it a (and I'm being honestly generous) one jug of moonshine award.

So, there ya go.......your 'in house' country music critic has spoken, LOL.
