Probably from a lack of interest. Ethnic groups or races tend to dominate whatever sport they are most interested in.

Shaun, how difficult is it to turn left?
For you, I think it would be very difficult.

It is very difficult to do so at 200 mph. And Shrike is right, but on a small scale. Many people do not have the talent to drive in NASCAR. Of any race. There are even many race drivers in other series and types of cars that do not have the talent to drive in NASCAR.

It is demanding and grueling, both physically and emotionally. There is a definite skill set to be able to keep it together and not be speedway splattr on the wall.

I have driven on a dirt track, and made a few laps on a one mile speedway, and nowhere near the speeds the cars could handle. I have also done the drag strip thing with a few of my cars, braggin rights type friendly competitions.

I guess where all this is going is I know I do not have the skills to run at Taledega or in NASCAR. And I do have some experience with fast cars.

However, Shrike is right, many do not have the talent, or skills or desire. But skills can be learned and desire can change overnight. Talent on the other hand, ya either have or do not have.

Very difficult to turn left have you tried running at 200mph in traffic 2" off the bumper of the driver infront of you. I have raced in SCCA with a sports car and its tough --I envy those guys who can keep the car on the track at that speed for 500 miles -- they are harder working atheletes that baseball and football combined.

I have never seen any black race car drivers. And, in my thirty years as a mechanic, I never saw any really good black mechanics.....parts changers, yes...mechanics, no....

I wasn't really trying to be. I was just trying to lighten the mood of this forum.

Question

To get back somewhat on topic - anybody remember the name of the movie (came out in the early eighties, methinks) with Richard Pryor starring as the first Black stock car racing driver? Good movie - based on a real life driver. If memory serves, he eventually made into the big circuit. Long since retired.
He'd likely give ol' Spike the back of his hand, and tell him to shut up.

Rufus continues to wonder why anyone would give a hoot what he thinks or has to say. Unless he is giveing Rufus money, Rufus could not possibly care any less about him.

I think Kaneko is extremely funny....I LMAO at the things he says.....and I find it extremely funny that he would throw an insult at Shaun...probably not the brightest thing in the world to do.....I forsee Shaun contacting Roy D. Mercer in regards to a big can of "WhoopAss!" in the near future.
