reason for 24/7 carry

This is why you should carry even on your own property

Police: Man killed after interrupting burglary
Thursday, July 15, 2004 8:48 AM CDT

By LORI DUNN
Texarkana Gazette

NASHVILLE, Ark.-A man was found dead here on his lawn with multiple gunshot wounds Tuesday after he had been working in his hay field earlier in the day.

The Howard County Sheriff's Department and Arkansas State Police are investigating the death of 69-year-old George C. Cook as a homicide. No arrests had been made as of late Wednesday, a spokesman for the sheriff's department said.

Cook's body was found about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday in the yard of his home on Anderson Road in Nashville, the spokesman said. He was apparently killed after interrupting a burglary at his home, said Lt. Cleve Barfield of the Arkansas State Police.

Information on who discovered the body was not available Wednesday. Cook was pronounced dead by Howard County Coroner Bobby Miller.

Authorities said the cause of death appears to be multiple gunshot wounds. Cook's body has been sent to the state crime lab in Little Rock for an autopsy.

A spokesman for the sheriff's department said Cook had been working in a hay field not long before he was discovered.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

It certainly is a travesty but I can't see toting around a heavy gun walking around on my property.

Even if I lived in a city walking around with a sidearm or a long gun 24/7, to me, is a little paranoid and just isn't realistic to do.

Granted, I seldom travel away from home without something and I do have loaded guns within every room of our home but it's too dang hot to add any added weight out in the back 40.

Sometimes life is about taking reasonable chances.

If his own god!!!! fault for not leaving something for those poor victims of society to take. When people learn to not come home and interrupt intruders who are minding their business?

I slip a 380 or a 357 in my pocket when ever I am out doing something -- if I am in the shop I can 't see the house door - if I am mowing the back I can't see the front door --it never hurts to be safe the small gun isn't very inconvient.

Years back I was in my shop it was about 2 in the morning the door to the garage was open with the light on and I had the air on in my shop -- car pulled up out front and the dogs alerted to an intruder I had the gun out and went to check it turns out it was a deputy checking on the open door. He told me he was happy to see a homeowner who made their job easy -- ended up getting him some coffee and we chatted for a while while I was doing some loading.

I hope you aren’t serious. You know, listening to those Democrat campaign speeches (propaganda) will rot your brain! You might want to listen to some Republican speeches to counteract it - quickly, before it's too late!

Is Republican propaganda any better?

If it's any consolation, I don't listen to any political speeches. It's all a load of cwap. I like to read what has been done instead of what is said.
The Wall Street Journal is a good rag.

http://news.google.com/

I like this news service because it is auto-generated every fifteen minutes. A good random sampling of news services from around the world reagarding the news of the day.

It is my homepage. I do not enjoy news services with a political bias. It is a fastrack to Lemmingland.

Yeah, what he says only double. I'm a lurch, a troll, a goblin and, hiding under your bed next to a dog-eared Men's Health magazine and a dried up pile of tissue paper. Its a little gross.

Check that, it's a lot gross.

There many rules here that allow those who are not licensed to carry conceled to do just that! For example, it is still legal to carry conceled on your property, rented or leased. Just a little more on the issue.

That's true. I suppose the real question is: how safe do you feel where you live?

Do ya suppose that Mr. George C. Cook had something on Klinton, after all it happened in Arkansas? That seemed to be his & her policy in the past, if they can't talk, they can't testify!
