Question Moving to a diff. state.. gun registration follow me?

So here's my predicament:
I'm moving to a different state. In this new state, my IMI Jericho 941 is "illegal" SOLELY because it has "IMI" stamped on it instead of "Magnum Research" (as some of you probably know, the Baby Eagle is the same thing as a Jericho) Since the gun is registered to me, what happens when I move to the new state, and apply for a new drivers liscense? Will they see that I have an "illegal" gun registered to myself? Do I HAVE to sell the gun before I move?

Applying for a new license will not show that you own that gun...but if it is illegal in that state you either hide it or sell it...nothing else you can do...

What State? if its PRK take a dremel and remove the Manufacturer name --just DON'T alter the SN# that's where the crime is

What's PRK? I'm new remember : (
And thank you for the replies. I've been worried sick about this. The gun looks exactly identical to a Magnum Research BabyEagle! I've even shot with it at a local indoor gunrange an no one even batted an eye.. It's absolutely ridiculous that's it's illegal because of it's name...

PRK = Peoples Republik of Kalifornia

I believe you will be safe if it looks the same they don't have a group that will verify that kind of stuff

Red face

Several possibilities here.
1) Hide the piece and hope for the best. Just pray you never have to use it for defense.
2) Sell the gun, and replace it with one that is PC-Guvmint approved. In the PRK, it will be high-impact plastic, in a bright day-glo green with the barrel painted orange, and you'll shoot PC-compatible bio-degradable nerfballs.
3) Move to a Free State that believes in the Second Amendment.

Sorry, but this crap shouldn't be tolerated by a free man.

All questions are welcome on G&G. To ignore answering is always an option. But...for those of us interested in learning more about guns, gun laws, and a whole lot more, I say ask any question you want. I don't think there's any bad question...only bad answers.

it just occured to me that the guy may be looking to see what info was available in this forum, good and bad, that's all. i certainly wasn't implying to ignore, or not answer the questions the fella had. no harm or foul meant.

I know that you weren't Troy. Just thought I'd clarify a possible misunderstaning that NorCalAshnjikov might have if he took it wrong.

About 2-3 years ago when I first started posting I asked a question and got a smart arse answer putting me down for asking something I thought was legit. I understand how it is to be on the receiving end of being told that what I asked wasn't worth answering. I refer to that type of person as a "Gun Snob." I vowed never to be like that intentionally, and I know that you and nearly all of the g&g members feel that way, too. :right:

thank you for that then. i have gotten a really warm welcome here since joining and the folks in this forum have been a huge technical help(dam funny bunch too). info that i can get right from my pc in an online forum, too cool. just that post and lack of follow up posts from the author struck me as odd.

Yes. Gotta admit that to me it seems odd when someone who is the originator of a thread gets answers posted and never adds any follow up comments.

Could be a dozen reasons for not getting back, I suppose. But I believe that when most g&g members post an original thread that they get back on the thread with at least one follow up comment...either a thanks for the info...or more comments.

Hey...NRAJOE, and others, (not that I haven't added a couple myself ) have been yapping on the Pick-em-Up thread, or something like that, about trucks and more for over two years and still won't shut up. It's got over a thousand posts on that thread alone. :right:
