another singer inserts foot in mouth.

well now its linda rohnstat who is following in the dixi chicks foot steps this time the singer in question dedicated a song to michale moore and then later stated she doesn't like republicas in her audience.
well between her and the chicks my music collection is getting thiner.

so where do we draw the line, do entertainers have the right to use an event where ppl have paid to see them "entertain" to empose thier political agendas or opions on thier paying audience?

She made her comments at the Aladdin in Vegas, and 1/4th of the crowd walked out because of her comments.

She also made a separate statement declaring that she doesn't want to know if there are Fundamental Christians or Repulicans in her audience. She says that she wouldn't know what she would do if she knew it.

How come no one tells her that she is being prejudice?

Wink

Yes, they had a big mess that night over at the Aladdin, they escorted her to her bus, didn't even let her back into the hotel to get her stuff out of the room. The management said they paid her for a show, not to use the stage for her own political agenda. I guess the people were booing and tore her posters off the walls and there was almost a riot...I always like her songs..but I don't think she is very popular right now..and has ruined her career....because she really got bad reviews here..I also heard... she will not be invited back to Las Vegas....after making some remarks....she may not think that is is big deal, but if your 86' from this town...that is a big deal!

Red face

I like Linda's music from the seventies, and she was one of my favorite lady singers for a long while. Then she turned openly Liberal, married the idiot Jerry Brown, turned her back on her fans, got fat, got divorced by Jerry, and her carreer went into the toilet. Has she even written anything new? It seems she was singing the same old songs at this show. Trying to regain past glory, and let her big mouth ruin it again.
Too bad, she was a real looker at one time.

Bonnie Rait's the new one in the news commenting on Bush during her performance in Stockholm. If you are an entertainer, you shouldn't have an a public opinion. Keep them private; otherwise, that could be considered brainwashing your audiences. Not to mention when I buy a concert ticket, I'm there to listen to music not some moron's political view. They usually don't know what they're talking about anyway.

If I go to a show, its to hear the music, not any singers political views. you want to make a political statement, do so at a rally or hold a concert expressly for that. and K, ya gotta remember, We have a lt of dumb people in the US... after all, look who got elected president!

People should not pay any attention to entertainers political views. Self-promotion takes many forms.

Love it!

Actually, if an entertainer is MORE than just an entertainer, then political views are relevant.

An Entertainer Like Sony Bono, Fred Grandy, Charelton heston or Ted Nugent who is openly political and works for political change full bore, carries much more weight than these idiots that come out of the woodwork 'round election time.

Especially to booze toting, swearing, vile, mean and obnoxiuos ones like Whoopie and her ilk.

She's become another liberal that thinks nobody with a different opinion matters. They believe that the only reason socialism hasen't worked, is because they didn't have the right people in charge. If you don't agree with them then you don't count in their little utopia. Lady Di is correct Vagas was her last hope of making a living. If she'd pulled that stunt in Branston MO they'd hang her. Good Ol' Boys don't go for that crap.

i like the idea that she was tossed out, they where right in doing so. NOT becuase of what she said but becuase she said it. she has a right to her thinkings no matter if we agree or not. but she has no right to impose them on us when we pay to hear her SING ONLY. ppl don't go to events like this to listen to an enetertainers poiltical veiws they pay to hear them sing.
they are entertainers not poilitical speakers and even wild Ted doesn't talk politics at a consert he just sings. cuase he knows thats what we paid to hear him do.
as much as i disagree with her and condone the actions taken by the casino. i don't think she should be hung. lol.
maybe tared and feathered :insane:

Thumbs down

Make the words you speak today tender, warm and sweet, for tomorrow those very words you may have to eat.
These "elite" folks shoot their mouth of and a lot of folks think that if they kept their opinion to themselves they would be better off,but no,they just have to push until they get a reaction,in this case I hope she follows the Dixie Dorks and falls further into the hole.
Might wind up another Rosean Barr,or O'Donald or whatever those morons are.

in a perfect world, yes, but this is reality. I believe that no matter who the entertainer is --liberal or conservative.
