Drunken Drivers Allegedly Show Up Drunk For Program
Men Arrested Before Court-Mandated Program

KOKOMO, Ind. -- Police say three men showed up intoxicated for a court-ordered program in which panelists tell how drunken drivers have hurt them and their families.

Bruce Hendrix, 47, and Michael Dimitt, 40, both of Kokomo, and Andrew Johnson, 55, of Marion, all convicted of drunken driving, were arrested before the start of the program Tuesday.

"It's appalling that individuals court-ordered to attend the victims impact panel would arrive after they had been consuming alcohol," Howard County Sheriff Marty Talbert told the Kokomo Tribune for a Friday story.

Johnson and Dimitt were charged with public intoxication and probation violation, and Hendrix with probation violation. They were being held at the Howard County Criminal Justice Center early Friday.

"These speakers give of their time to try and prevent someone else from experiencing the same tragedy their family suffered," Talbert said. "It has to be discouraging for them to see folks handcuffed and transported to jail before the program even gets under way."

Many years ago, and before it became every so apparent it took out of my precious time, I worked OT on a short stint as a state certified instructor for those who had the opportunity to have their traffic tickets disappear by successfully taking the course.

Well, the course was conveniently given at a local Holiday Inn....complete with a bar.

Sure enough, after a lunch 'hour' three guys and one gal came back to the afternoon session....quite obvious they had been at the motel lounge.

They were cool about it and, by the time 4:00PM rolled around (and I spoke with them off and on 'till then) they were good to go (I did mention that I could arrange for a court date on their original tickets and forget they ever showed up that day).

But, some people just don't have any sense a times they really need it.

These three must be the biological sperm donors for the three dumbarsses that torched themselves in the other thread - Scott you gotta admit - without screwballs like these darrell-licks life would not be as amusing.

I think it's funny! Haaaaa!!! What crap anyway. Just give them the fine and call it good. they only want the money anyway. What;s the use in makeing them listen to a bunch of whiners?
