I would stay away from the NAA minis, they're more a last-ditch weapon for evading a hand-to-hand with a burglar or something. My grandfather has one, and it doesn't have the accuracy you'd want for something like that.
I would suggest a Cobra Derringer. Two barrels, easy to operate, cross-bolt safety, single action, two shots. You can get it in anything from .22 to .38 special, and you can get snake shot for each of those. The big bore ones have 3-1/2 inch barrels, which makes them about a pound, but they feel, shoot, and handle extremely well for the advertised $160. You can usually get them for $120, but some places have to order them at the newer prices, so you can't really get that great of a deal. But, at $160, who cares?
