Fayetteville NC, (cannot find any links) I see a pattern.
About 12 years ago the City settled or paid out to a man who alleged the city officer used unneccesary force against him.
About 6 years ago a couple of officers sued the Sherrif's dept. for their alleged treatment claiming raicial descrimination in their revues and the punishments.
NOW: Seven men have filed a lawsuit against the Fayetteville PD and Golden Corral resturaunt. Last year the Resturaunt recieved a phone call telling them person to put all the money in a bag and take it outside and leave it in the parking lot. The caller claimed to have someone inside watching them.
The men claim that the police arrived and started checking ID from the white patrons and letting them leave while making these seven men (black) wait for an unspecified amount of time for questioning. It is my understanding that no arrests were made.
Call me naive but I believe these men will win their lawsuit.
I can think of a few reasons why the PD would have reason to detain them but the news didn't specify any details. Maybe the caller said his inside guy was a black man, maybe they didn't have ID, maybe the restuaraunt manager said something to the PD to finger the men.
What is for certain the city of Fayetteville and its citizens are going to have to payout again!
