Had a pretty bad wreck.......

On Sunday I drove home from (Hey Joe, grab your atlas!!!!!) Midland, TX. It's about five and a half hours from here. I left my wife up there with her girlfriend (probably a mistake on my part) because her old company up there had hired for decent $$$ to do some contract work in their office. I drove mack to San Antone to get back to work on Monday.

I got home and realized that I had no contact lense cleaner as I accidentally left it in Midland (Let aolne I had no beer in the fridge after a week out of town). I hopped back in the car to drive the 3/4 mile to the grocery store. Now I had not had a drop to drink all day (I know, the world almost came to a hault that day). I pulled out of my complex and drove two blocks to the stoplight which was red. I stopped and was the "person on the white line." I was the only person at the intersection. This was 2106 hours according to the report.

I was talking to Mrs 1* on the cell phone and letting her know that I had made it back to San Antone just fine. All of a sudden there is a sound like an explosion, my head whips back over the head rest, cell phone ends up somewhere in the car, and I found my baseball cap in the rear window of the car.

The dude never even hit his breaks when he struck me from behind. At any rate out vehicles came to a stop and I.....well.....I really don't remember what happened next. All I know is that I was in the middle of a major intersection. I managed to limp the car to a little parking lot and was relieved to see a vehicle with obvious front end damage following me.

I am trying to find the cell phone because Liss is stil on it screaming for me to pick the phone up.......I found it in the back seat if I remember.

I crawl out of the car (literally) and check myself for wounds....I see none (boy was I over confident......it all changed the next day.....

To mnake a long story short I was rear ended while at a red light by what the officer estimated was a speed of 45-50 mph.

I'm still waiting on the dudes insurance to come and send out and adjuster to, more than likely, total my car out.

I had to front the money for a rental car because they won't give me one until my car enters the shop.....but yet they haven't sent anybody out to cut the check (State Farm).

I hired an attorney and she is all over them....I have never done that before....

Also I had to go to the Dr today because I couldn't move.....he gave me a bunch of free dope and then sent me for an MRI Friday......I just did neck surgery two years ago if you'll remember.......the valium posts from long ago....LOL

I am off work indefinitely.......I am losing wages we I sit here.........I hope this attorney will get me compensated......

What can I say. I have never meet you friend but I just want you to know I hope everything turns out better and you get better soon. I too know what it is like to be in a serious car wreck. Long story short-late night, 70mph around a curve, right tire blew out and I squared a big Oak tree. My knees and left shoulder took a lot of damage from the dash and auto seat belt post. Happened about 5 years ago and I will carry it for the rest of my life. But I am thankful to have life. If I can breeth another breath then I know I'll be alright. One day at a time man, that's all any of us have.
Keep us informed. And our best regards.

1*...that's a bummer! Hope your skeletial system and sore muscles recover fast. :right: That's how I feel all the time

Didja frisk her and slap cuffs on her for failing to yield to a LEO in a stopped car and for reckless driving?

Yep...I've never come out of a car accident with something equal or better than I had before. It'll always be a wrecked vehicle in some ways. My advice is to trade it off ASAP.

And yes, I'll say a prayer for sure for your quick recovery.

Hope you feel better soon the attorney will take care of everything -- just don't sign anything without her consent.. I have been through this once and it will be a good outcome you'll get the dodge you wanted and should be able to buy your house with a healthy down. Take it easy and enjoy the drugs

Matt that's bad news. I hope your pain is temporary and nothing serious.

As for lawyers, I HATE lawyers, except for the mine, then they can be worth their weight in gold.

Let that woman of yours nurse you back to health…..

Wonder what happened to you? You need Momma there to rub you down and take care of you.

Any accident that you can walk away from is good in my book. Sounds like you're pretty well banged up. Let us know what the results on the MIR are.

And what about the other individual? Hurt? DUI? Their car?

Matt, I hated to read what happened to you but I'm glad you are relatively OK.

Least wise you're not in a hospital on a respirator and, as painful as it might be, you're still standing.

With your attitude I think you'll heal fine but it's gonna take some time.

You mean that PD of yours doesn't compensate you for lost wages as a result of injury with sick leave? Or you're auto insurance?

Dang...I hope the Attorney get's every penny you deserve.

BTW, what happened to the fool that rear ended you? Were there drugs or alcohol involved......was the cause for him rear ending you ever discovered (operator negligence, mechanical failure, etc.)?

Well, take it easy and heal......heal well by friend.

I'll be thinking of you.

Also, I am very familiar of where Midland/Odessa is.....nice little communities out in the middle of nowhere where you have to remove tumble weeds just to park you truck.

I am betting the fool broke up crying I know when that happened to me in PRK and the guy who hit me found out he hit an off duty cop he broke down in tears - lucky in that case no injuries and my truck totaled his car. Schedule 40 Steel tube rear bumpers are wonderful I got a small dent in the bumper and his hood rolled back to the front tire.

I hope you heal quickly and completely, that's the most important thing. Next I hope your attorney takes the person behind the wheel of the other car and their insurance company for a real ride of their own. In the long run monitarily you'll probably be fine, the big question is the physical healing and any (I pray not) permanent physical damage. I'll keep you in my prayers. Please keep us informed, inquiring minds want to know.

Jeez!

I am really glad to hear you walked away from that one, it could have been much worse.

(I know, me overstating the obvious again)

Here is praying for a speedy recovery and a just outcome to the accident.

But as a word of caution, do exactly what your doctors and your lawers say, and document EVERYTHING. As a LEO you should already know that (See my comment in parentesis above).

Take care and get well!
