High Standard 1911,
The 1911 by Taurus is pretty high on my 'to buy' list.

Looks like this has been going for a long time. I will chime in though.
In the 60s my dad and grandfather went to a Navy surplus sale. There they bought 2 1903A3 rifles and two 1911A1s. The grand total for all four firearms was $60.00! Dad souped up his 45 and shot bullseye competition with it. Then sold it. I still have both 03s and one 45. Love them. Lot's of memories and emotion tied up in them.

I don't have one yet and but one is on my wish list. There are a few other guns ahead of it.
But someday I'll buy one...A.H

Springfield Armory says SOME .22 conversion kits have a longer firing pin which could create a dangerous situation when the hammer in in the safety position. Any of you gentlemen know which conversion kits should be avoided and which are safe for the Springfield 1911-A1?

Llama Model IX-A for me. She looks strange; the only two-tone .45 ACP pistol I've ever seen. (Imagine the progeny of a Government Model Colt and a FEG PA-63, if you will...) But she shoots good and the price was right ($250 OTD including tax and a case for her bought separately).
Thinking about a smaller .45 for carry when (always be optimistic!) my CCW permit comes through. I have small hands. Any suggestions?

I own three Springfield Armory 1911-A1's. Great pistols, and no problems with any of them. Over the years I have shot competition mnatches with all three.
In 2007 I purchased a new Springfield Armory XD Tactical in .45ACP. My XD Tactical has the five inch barrel of course. Even though I love my S.A. 1911-A1's, I'm amazed how great my XD Tactical .45 is.
