Best? Washington because he did the least amount of damage to the Constitution. Worst? Lincoln because he destroyed the Republic and created the US Empire.

Best President.

William Henry Harrison. Ninth President of these United States

Reason:

Quote:
But before he had been in office a month, he caught a cold that developed into pneumonia. On April 4, 1841, he died--the first President to die in office--and with him died the Whig program.

Born: February 9, 1773 in Charles City County, Virginia

Died: April 4, 1841. He died in Washington D.C. of pneumonia a month after taking office. He was the first president to die in office.
It seems that he insisted on riding to his inauguration in an open carriage during a particularly cold and damp Washington winter.

He was not in office long enough to screw up the country!!!

Ok, for those Jeff Davis fans... Is there anything he particularly did, or is he your choice only cause he was of the Confederacy?

he resigned his seat in the house of representatives to command a regiment in the mexican war. that showed character and devotion to this country in my opinion. and he was a graduate of west point. he served in the house of reps more than one time. in my eyes his two major flaws were he was not a very good tactician and he tried to centralize the confederate government too much. the main thing about the civil war was for the states to have more autonomy sheesh looks like he would had a clue.

Went with Washington, anyone who picked Lincoln needs to read some history, Lincoln was the great decapitator, not emancipator.

Lincoln changed very much during his presidency, during the war. I don't know all the details, but it had very much to do with his personal life, and a spiritual awakening. How to identify the changes is another matter.

About the only thing to change Lincoln was getting shot in the head. He was a bigot, a despot, a tyrannical dictator and a whole list of other things to numerable to mention. If he freed the slaves, how's come it took so long for them to be FREE, it took another 100 years for them to vote, let alone be free. He did nothing short of ruining the constitution and our form of Republican goverment. He jailed a Supreme Court Justice for calling the War Against Free States unconstitutional, he jailed people for not agreeing with him - what part of that are we supposed to think of as great - he's the biggest piece of crap to hold the office. He's head and shoulders worse than slick-willie ever was.

nixon

(Boy am I gonna get some crap for this but...) Nixon was a lousy president in the home front (and I, in my hippee days sucked a mess of tear gas with him at the miami conventions..oh what fun times)
....but he was the best international president we ever had. You can directly relate the fall of the soviet union to nixon making peace with china. By getting us close to the chinese he eliminated a major threat to our security (and now a trading partner) and scared the poop outta the soviets. you did not even need to arm them, just send a billion chinese each with a knife across the boarder and russia would have been no more. and the combined threat of the u.s/china military&friendship pact is what drove the soviets to build a massive defensive military that ended up bankrupting there country, resulting in its break-up and now conversion to capitolism...all because of nixon.
