I just bought a Victorinox, soldier model for everyday carry. For some reason the red plastic handle on the Tinker model I was carrying is starting to chip and peel???

I've been carrying a Sheffield folder that uses a utility knife blade(razor blade), very handy and the easiest knife I ever had to sharpen . I also carry an old Case that looks just like a boy scout knife (flat screwdriver, awl, can opener, bottle opener, and blade) and I quite often wear a Ka-Bar on my belt. BTW: Asking a Georgian for a knife usally results in pointing and laughing at the person lacking a knife.

After getiing some scratches on my Buck auto I decided to carry the "Automat Kalasnikov 74",a cheaper auto that operates well and is more resistant to pocket wear. Got mine at a gun show for $25.00 and the dealers were buying the AK mag looking boxes for $5.00.The knife is coil spring fired and can be disassembled to replace spring if neccessary, has finger grooves and a very strong spring, you must not hold it lightly or it could jump out of your hand during opening,a very good auto for the money!
By the way Gunrunner, did you ever get that AK47 knife? I can't find any now in manual or auto?

I have carried a Extra Large Cold Steel Voyager for 5 years.
Some say it is over kill. It is the one I don't loose. Easy to sharpen and
can hold a razor edge.

i have some green walmart special that i found on the road, served me better than my others and i tend to carry it with me so long as im not going to school or air port.. almost forgot it on me when going to the airport once. whenever i dont bring it along i seem to regret it, had many a time i needed it and cursed myself for deciding itd be best to leave it home. also have a cheap kbar immitation -- some BUDK brand knife -- drop point. id like a ka bar but i tend to not use them enough to justify the 40 for one.

I carry a hand-made knife made by a knife maker in Italy; his name is Rocco Petrunti and his work is first rate. Here is a pic of his work. http://www.villagephotos.com/pubbrow...der_id=1178456
This knife has Staghorn scales, the blade is flatground 440 stainless. The work is truely outstanding. His site is here: http://www.petrunticoltelli.com/
He makes outstanding hunting knives as well as collectible and pocket/pen knives. The site is in Italian but it is very navigable.

It is a small yet deadly knife with a distinctive carved wooden handle. Typically, these knives were carried covertly on one's person or wedged in a stocking top in the style of the kilt-clad highland warriors.
Cold Steel has introduced a modern, updated version of this romantic and historically significant knife.
Mini Cullodens - New for 2000 a smaller version of our classic Scottish Culloden. The thin, acutely pointed blade is made of AUS 8A Stainless Steel. The traditional "jimping" on the back of the blade is both functional and decorative. The deeply checkered Kraton handle is designed to afford a wide variety of comfortable and secure grips. Comes complete with a Concealex neck sheath and para-cord lanyard.
The Culloden, designed by Lynn C. Thompson, commemorates by name, the Scottish nation's last heroic battle at Culloden on April the sixteenth, 1746, and offers today's warrior an alternative to the traditional double edged boot knife. Take a few moments and read about this knife's extraordinary features, and we're sure you'll want to make the Culloden a part of your daily wardrobe.
Blade The thin, acutely pointed tip of the Culloden is as sharp as the proverbial needle and is ideally suited for piercing. It is so sharp and efficient, you'll be amazed at the effortless way it glides through just about any soft material. What's more, its saber ground, extra thin edge has been honed by hand to true razor like sharpness.
The traditional "jimping" on the back of the blade is both decorative and functional. It provides an aggressive, non-slip platform for the thumb or forefinger, allowing each to bear downward as needed for maximum control.
Handle In keeping with the minimalist theme of the original Skean Dhu, the Culloden's diminutive handle measures a mere 3 7/16 of an inch long. Don't let its small size fool you. The handle has been specially designed to afford a wide variety of comfortable and secure grips. Its palm hugging profile closely resembles a number of traditional styles so it will look right at home wedged in a stocking top. Its cross section has been made extra thin and flat so it hugs the body within its sheath and resists rolling or twisting when in the hand. To maximize its grip, it is made of deeply checkered Kraton which has an adhering quality that makes it "stick" in wet hands, yet remains resilient enough to take the shock of even the hardest blow. The Mini Cullodens come complete with a Concealex neck sheath and para-cord lanyard.
