Columbia River just sent me a couple new knives you guys should take a look at. One is the Carson M-21. The other is the Hammond Cruiser. These are both serious using knives by Kit Carson and Jim Hammond. 3-7/8" blades with flippers. If you havent used flippers, they are little extensions on the base of the blade you catch with your finger and flip and the blade pops out quicker than a switchblade. No springs, no nothing, just a blade and handle and blade lock.
I used to carry a Benchmade AFO, but the Carson I'm carrying now is a stronger built knife and with its teflon bearings on the blade, it is twice as fast to open. Soon as I get this Carson wrote up and published, I will carry the Hammond for a while. Lots of these knives going to Irak. You wont get a better knife for the price than these. http://www.crkt.com/

I carry my dads original Barlow #51 made by Camillus- New York. I don't know how many years he carried it,he passed away 18 years ago and the blades were honed thin when I got it. It has Nickel bolsters and 2 blades, always using it.
When he found something he liked he always bought a second one in case the first woreout, broke, lost, etc. So I also have the unused backup.

I have my old leatherman I bought at the PX at Ft. Benning on my duty belt now. I also carry a Cold Steel Sage Keeper II push dagger hidden on my duty belt. My pride and joy is a Benchmande Auto Stryker 9100 that I got compliments of Uncle Sam over in Iraq. I carry that one on a daily basis.

There is a Cold Steel "Mini Tac" (plain edge) around my neck and usually under my shirt.
On my belt can be found a Cold Steel "Tai Pan" dagger or a Cold Steel "SRK". I used to carry the now discontinued Cold Steel "Mini Gurkha Light Kukri" until it was stolen at a camping event. I'd give anything to replace that blade, but they are not to be found nowadays. Several companies list them, but don't have them in stock.
Yeah, I'm a knife nut. But I also carry a firearm. Some find it strange, but I carry a 4 5/8" barrel Ruger Vaquero .45 Colt, single action, as my personal defense weapon.
Flame me if ya want to for my choices in knives and guns, but they have served me well even in combat once.
Omar* | I have a few cold steel goodies, and that SRK is one fine knife, next to a Busse for strength.

Everyone of my Kershaw's came sharper than a razor! |

Yes, a Schrade Uncle Henry LB5. It lives in my pocket at all times except when I'm using it. I've had this one for ten years anyway, and it's a replacement for the LB-3 I carried after I came ashore.
At sea, it was a Buck sailor's knife with a line-cutting blade (no point at all) and a folding marlinspike that I carried since my first leave from the Academy; I still have it in my bureau.
Before that, it was the standard US military issue "camper's knife" we plebes were issued on Day One at the Academy (which was a hunk of junk). Regulations state that all cadets must carry a knife at all times, but they are silent as to what kind of knife you must carry, which is why most of us deck apes bought our own to replace the crummy issue knife.
Before that, it was an old stag-handled camper's knife that lived in my pocket from junior high on (back then, nobody ever thought a suburban kid might have a knife on him).
It must be more than 40 years since I didn't have a knife on me.
