because of my line of work, i carry a utility knife 8-10 hrs a day. in my car i keep a 4" butterfly in the drivers door pocket. at home i have my trusty s&w 3.5" lockback. i would carry it with me but the clip broke years ago.
i mean to get another folder to keep on me but ive yet to find a 3.5" folder with a black blade harder than 440c that opens as easily one handed as my trusty s&w...
oh yeah, theres the machete in the trunk too...

| My pocketknife is an essential tool The first thing to go into my pocket when the day starts. I Have carried some type of pocket knife since I was a child. I don't go anywhere without one. I Would be lost without it. I Carry the real COLD STEEL Voyager folders made in japan. Not the new cold steel garbage from china. |

Everywhere except the office, which is a govt. building.
I carry one of two: Victorinox Deluxe Tinkerer or the little one they used to call the Princess. The D. Tinkerer has a Philips screwdriver and a small pair of pliers.
I keep the Victorinox Woodsman I bought in 1985 in my car.

Leatherman-style tool. I do forget the brand offhand, but it comes with a screwdriver and small socket set too.
I also have a big "at home" toolbox, and a smaller "craft box" I can grab and go with.

An Osbourne designed Benchmade cam assist or another favorite is the Spyderco
Native with the platic handle ( the stainless one is too slick in the hand) and no serrations. My Lansky does real well at keeping a keen edge on both..( scary sharp )

Yeah, doesn't everyone here?
I used to have a small Old Timer 2 blade as a constant companion. It was kind of small, but always handy to have around.
Now, I usually have something bigger, along the lines of a Shrade or Old Timer folding hunter or maybe a Remington Bullet knife. I got into some good buys on knives at an auction last summer and have about half a dozen of the above named type.
My everyday knife is a Boker 3 blade in a sawbelly design with a 2 3/4" main blade. It's China made, but "walks and talks", holds a decent edge and only cost me $7 during a special sale at the local gun/fishing/hunting/camping/etc. store. I got a couple of them so I can lose one and not worry about it much.

Was taught by my dad when I was young that a man should always carry a knife. I am pretty tough on them the one I carry now is a benchmade can't remember the type.

This one is on my belt in a holster style sheath if I leave the house. It's a Moore Maker single blade locking trapper 4 1/8 closed and 8 1/4 open. I also carry a small folder in my pocket usually a Rough Rider.

I carry an unbranded assisted opening pocket knife everywhere but school. I hate being without a pocketknife. Very useful tool

I carry the knife i got from my grandpa 10+ years ago, it was old when i got it, but its a Craftsman barlow, has real bone handles. It always has a razor edge, i use a knife very often during the day, as i live on a farm, and am a logger too. I also carry my homemade beater knife in my truck, made out of planers blade, VERY hard steel, and holds an excellent edge. It has an electrical tape handle haha. Great knife tho.

Benchmade Griptilian with the 3.45" blade, I got it as a present and have had it for about 3-4 years now. I've gotten so used to it that it feels strange to go anywhere without it, like not taking my wallet or keys with me. Although I don't really put it to any heavy use (just cutting string, paper, etc when I don't have the proper tools to do the job), it has stayed quite sharp over the years with just an occasional oiling.
I noticed at my college I'm allowed to carry a knife as long as the blade is under 5 inches long.. I'm sure that doesn't apply everywhere, but I was glad to find that out.

i live in one of many states which concider the posession of a "switchblade" knife illegal.
as a member of the national guard, i was deployed to iraq for a year. during my tour their i, as was hundreds of other soldiers were given a benchmade knife that was an "automatic" which allowed the blade to pop open with the pressing of a button, truly meeting the definitionof a switchblade.
upon redeployment back home, all soldiers receiving the knife werre allowed to keep them as their personal property and return home with them.
my question is. what is the status of their ownership of this knife? are they all breaking the law by owning it? are they required to register it or turn it in to the state?

An all steel Carson Design M16-13 utility folder that I had in Iraq, and a thin profile K-Bar folder. Both have about 3" blades.
