| Super Moderator ![]() ![]() | How to start off a fun day of target shooting with my friends.
Since it's about dinner time this evening I've been thinking about what I ate last Sunday out at the farm before we went shooting. There were five of us guys to feed for lunch (we ate about 2 p.m.) so Tiny, my son in law's brother who is about 6' 4" He also had fresh potatoes cut in thick slices seasoned heavily and sprinkled with cooking oil and put in thick foil over the fire in the grill. Then he had plenty of fresh large tomato's which we'd just picked out of his garden. And...earlier he had made two gallons of fresh made iced tea. Couldn't drink beer because we were going to be shooting later. Ok...does that start to make your mouth start to water? Did mine for sure just remembering how good it all tasted. :right: As soon as we scarfed that food down :insane: and had relaxed a short while, we headed to the timber area where we'll deer hunt in December. We scouted for the best locations to put our deer stands, which we'll set up a few weeks before season. We also took the pieces of four blocks of salt which we'd broken up into small pieces in order to spread it around the ground in certain locations we determined to be deer paths. They'll lick on it and even lick on the leaves as it melts in the general area. This is all legal according to Missouri's hunting rules. Then...we headed back to the target shoting area and proceeded to shoot more kinds of guns than I'll mention here. I've mentioned how that went in an earlier post. After we finished, and had all of our guns and ammunition locked up, we opened up a few beers. MmM Good. :cheer: Now that was what I call a fun day. :right:

There's not enough days in life like that for sure. As a deer hunting side note, this year in Missouri, if we take a buck it must have at least four points. This means we need to be very certain of the count before we shoot bucks which could be challenging. My deer tag allows me to shoot either/or but if it's a buck it's got to have those four points. What I think could happen is that some hunters might leave bucks with less than the required number of points lying on the ground rather than be facing certain penalties by the warden. I'd rather pay the fine for an honest mistake. Definitely I'll be using glasses before deciding what to shoot.

That does sound great Ox. Except for the tomatoes...yuck In Arizona that is considered setting out bait. Not legal here. Get yourself a deer and post a picture of it! Good luck this year Ox. |

Snakebite...In my area tomatoes are right in season. I eat them like apples. Mm Mm Good! I've got twelve vines and they're all bearing heavily. Re: posting pictures...I've about given up on figuring out how to do that. Both Shaun and Jerry have gone out of their way to spell out the details but I'm still in the dark.
