ITs 4:30 am (easter time) winds still 100mph accordign to the news....lots of rain....so far no real problems. The water proffeing I did on the back do (it faces east) is not hold up aginst the stores..so some towels on the floor....power flickering...but so for Florida Power and Light must have used extrat duc tape on the lines cause there hold up.....according to the news we have a few more hours of this storm. SO far cable, telephone and power hanging in there. The security film/tint on the windows seems too be doing its job...no broken windows...Wife in kids are in their rooms sleeping.... the older dogs go outside..do their thing and come in. The puppy seems to think the storm is way cool and runs all over the yard like a TV reporter lookign for the wind and rain to stand in....ok not a smart puppy Ill pop on and off as long as the power holds up.
Hope my fellow Floridians are haveing simaler luck.
Hang in there, DL! This will give you some heads-up on what to improve for the next one . . .
Six in the morning up here in T-town - a clear sky with moon and stars showing. We'll be getting the wind and rain later today. Thanks to y'all down there for blunting it's fury!
Big dog the older labrador is called stormy ITs 6:10 still hanging intere...lots of wind rain...but we be hanging Just watched the puppy and older lab go out to the mail box and back....ears standing stright up in the wind.....funny as Sht Glad to here your ok and doign well in Tally
Big dog so far the puppy has done more "damage" and destruction to the liveingroom area than the storm......puppy seriusly trashes the place...keeps findign stuff to chew on like a pack of batteries
It's good to hear you guys are still ok. We're seeing plenty of news reports and from what I've seen I'm surprised that everyone in Florida hasn't either blown away or driven up north. Yeah, I know, the roads aren't allowing traffic to move...everyone's just sitting there waiting for the parking lot to move nowhere.
Good luck! DL...don't forget to walk your dog. :insane:
Oxford, the media should be ashamed of themselves! To hear them tell the tale, you'd think all Florida was imbroiled in Armageddon, on the verge of total destruction! Actually, the damage is more localized than they say - I think more people will be hurt from being unnecessarily panicked than directly from the storm.
Here in Tallahassee, we're bracing for it - but we've done it before.
DL took the brunt of it's fury, and whipped it down into a Tropical Storm for us in the north . . . Thanks, Bro!
Those Labs! Always chewing, especially when young. No shoe or powertool cord is safe . . .
Big Dog...Obviously, hurricanes are profitable for the news media. People turn off other programs they would normally watch and turn to the weather channel...where we view their advertisments,...and their fees are based upon how many viewers watch the advertisments.
Regardless of all this hype by the media, I really appreciate that you guys living in Florida are posting regularly on G&G with the real truth about what's happening.
How else would I have know about DL's dog being name "stormy."
Well, we haven't heard from DL since about this time yesterday. How's it going, Doglips?
This storm sure is slow moving. Now the local news says we won't see the real effect of the storm til about dark tonight!
Man - I had hoped to do some good range time this Labor Day Weekend.
Bummer . . .
Y'all see the new one - Ivan - coming into the area? Making a beeline for Haiti/Dominican Republic right now, then towards the southern tip of Florida!
Dang, just who did we P.O.?
I figure it must be all that vacuous hotair in D.C. - drawing the winds toward it.
