my sights aren't adjustable on my Colt Combat Commander. I've been thinking about replacing them with MMC sights. have y'all ever used them ? would you use them ?
The MMC 1911 rear sight fits the popular "LowMount" cut, which may require that the slide be milled. The MMC sight then slides into the dovetail, and is secured in place by a 1/4 x 28 set screw in the base of the sight.
MMC sights used to be the best adjustable CCW sights in the business. They now are substandard. The steel in the rear sights is not case hardened properly causing serious deformation of the sight during installation. The company uses IMI tritium vial inserts which are the worst in the industry... they always fail. I personally have replaced 4 sets in 3 years. They dim out and are competely dead in 24-36 months. I cannot reccomend MMC sights. Go with Trijicons or Heinies. They are super sights for the $.

do I have to have the slide milled ?..I don't want to alter it too much because of the collector value..btw Mandy I'm not too concerned about cost after all this is my flagship sidearm :right:
If you like the piece and shoot it enough than bite the bullet and have the slide milled at both ends and have a dovetail, up front. Or at lease a double stud front sight. This way you wouldn't be serching for the front sight on the ground when it flies off from the recoil. All my "Colts" that have iron sights are milled with Bomar sights.
Meprolight is a good brand and so is Trijicon
I like AO action Express but I also have wilson nighteyes so
I have not heard of IMI lamps failing
thats interesting
personally I like fixed sights on combat handguns because there is nothing to go wrong.
and at combat ranges speed of aquisition is far more important than adjustabilility.
I wanted to let everyone know to stay away from this company in Las Vegas, Nevada. This company is fraudulent.
On June 20,2009 I purchased an adjustable rear tritium sight for my Kimber Ultra CDP II. For $15 they offered to professionally install the sight. I sent them my slide via UPS which they received on June 29, 2009. Since then I have not been able to make contact with this company. I have sent over 30 e-mails, but they do not responded. I have called them over 30 times, but they do not answer their telephone. I have left over 30 messages on their answering machine, but they do not return my calls. I even sent them an overnight federal express letter that they signed for...no reponse.
I did some research on this company, which I should have done before sending them my slide. They do not have a valid business license in the state of Nevada. They have an "F" rating from the Better Business Bureau and have not bothered to respond to 7 out of the 11 complaints filed against them in the last 36 months. The state attorney general's office in Nevada is no longer accepting complaints from consumers (budget cuts). The Las Vegas Police Department will not take a complaint either (too busy). A lawyer charges $325 an hour, meaning that it will cost much more than the price of the gun to get the slide back. I filed a complaint with the FBI but they admitted that not much will come of it, they have bigger fish to fry. I called Kimber and they told me that they do not sell replacement slides.
It looks like I am stuck...anyone got any good ideas?
Please let everyone know to stay away from this company.

I am a police officer in Texas. I am working an identical case here. I just finished a report to send to a Sgt. Misuraca with the Las Vegas, Metro, Police. He will take your case, you just need to have your local law enforcement start a report to forward to him. You can contact his office at 702-828-3651. Hope this helps get the ball rolling to get your slide back. EVERYONE AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!!

I'd try to avoid sights that are held in place by a set-screw on any pistol; especially larger caliber pistols. The recoil will most likely loosen the set-screw allowing the sight to move or fall out. Use a sight that needs to be pressed into the dove-tail for a tight fit.
I installed Bo-Mar sights and like them well.

I voted yes, but that yes vote depends entirely on to what handgun they'd be going on? I wouldn't put them on anything used for personal defense or competition. Something small calibered for plinking use, sure.
Because there are other much better first choices...Some of which have already been mentioned.
