back in the 50's and 60's they had oodles of WWII and Korean war stuff. all kinds of goodies from patches, and uniforms to fieldgear and rifles in a barrel. the places reeked of old kahki and pistol belts.
today they are just wannabes selling imported copys, and military styled stuff.
checked out the local store that just opened, most of the stuff is commercial imports in the GI style. ooh for the good old days.
Mine has most of that stuff but also has some 'Nam era stuff...new REAL stuff...Alice Packs...Ka-Bars...firearms...be going there in December...thats where my $150 company voucher for boots gets spent...boots and Carhardt stuff...

Our local Army Surplus Store went out of business but still has another store uptown. They deal mostly in Vietnam Era surplus and new GI stuff, as well as new commercial military-style stuff. Prices are from 'okay' to 'ridiculous'.
The do get in some nifty bags and pouches now&then. I keep my dome tent gear in a nice Warsaw Pact B40 rocket bag. Their clothing is mostly new, and priced way too high.
Occasionally, good surplus ammo pouches and holsters can be found too. My Security Six rides in a USAF Security Police issue leather holster.
Papa, they have a true mil surp store in Mesa (suburb of Phoenix) but the last time I was there they seemed awfully proud of their surplus and second hand stuff.
The prices were ridiculously high and the quality was low.
But, yes, I do remember the good old Army Navy surplus stores. Neat places.
