Hey Doglips....

Is this anything like the way your old job was? This stems from several deaths of Texas children

I think it must be that way everywhere. I hear about abused children and their deaths far too often.

Yeah....this has been in the news in TX quite a bit recently...and I see it first hand working juvenile crime. CPS is so swamped that they cannot effectively do their job.

Sounds like what I left...In Brevard county we had to type our own court petitions and motions...They made a change that for first 90 days enw workers could only get 15 cases a month....then get puppy slammed...when I left I was getting 5 new cases a day (that means interviewing kids, parents, collateral contacts such as school neighbors, doctors and such....running police FDLE check on everyone in household and 911 log of calls to house and getting medical records, school records and other statments) on EVERY case...1/2 of which was pissed off ex.....if it was a real abuse case then placeing kids in forster homes....home studies on relatives...court time... and I still got 5 new cases 5days a week Pluss my oncall weekend day.....when I left I had 200 open cases sitting in boxes in my office.

When A worker quit...open cases distributed to other workers....our office had 5 workers so when I left 40 open cases dumped on each of them....marry xmass

Also job was salary...some times boss would say ok you can put 5 hours of OT on your time sheet....most time it was stright time.....and Florida law stated that a "good faith effort" had to be made every 24hours to contact children/family members not contacted yet .....I was up to 7 days a week 12 hour days to keep up.....I found that comeing in at midnight..going with cops (required by our office policy) to houses to see people was bast way to make contact....hit 5 houses by 8am (cops just loved going door to door on stupid cases btw)...court at 9 and noon ..see new case kids at school(s)....then hit familys ...get home at 7-8pm...repeat for 3 freaking years.

OH btw you use your car ..not a state car..get paid .29cents a mile...I had wagon with 2 reg car seats..infant car seat..and boster seat straped in place...transporting these kids to foster homes...some were lice infested...some peed barfed what ever in the car.

Sad part of all this is that I make more $$ the last 3 years working as an Unarmed security guard (getting ot for avg of 6 days a week) than I did workign for DCF.
