68 people passed my Hunter Safty course today. Only four dropouts all with the same last name and only one class to go. Took all morning on the range to fire all the students.
DANA...were they named Loser, Losser, Loser and Loser. Musta been a bunch of lawyers. They missed out on a chance of a lifetime to learn those skills and knowledge.
That's a big class, Dana. I just certified a group of 26 over the weekend. Took us about 45 minutes to shoot the .22 rifle part of the course (two shooters at a time).
I do not need to complete a Hunter Safety course, because in the state of Tennesse people born before 1969 are considered to be
a) too old of a dog to learn new tricks,
b) safe enough, having survived this long, or
c) too decrepid to hunt anyway.
My 15 year-old daughter is expressing a desire to accompany me when the deer season opens, and therefore she needs to complete the aforementioned course. Who do I contact in the Coffee County area?

In New Zealand part of getting your firearms liceince is a hunter training course. They do two, four hour sessions from memory. Personally I like them because they do make people a lot more aware.
here in South Dakota we don't have to take the class if we are older than 16 so if I just decided that I wanted to hunt after I was 16 I wouldn't have to take any classes (unless It was for bowhunting then we need to have a bowhunting certificate)
DANA, what do you shoot? what my class shot was shotgun. I didn't get to go, I had to go to the State Fair instead.

I know an instructor here who got yelled at because he didn't verify if the guns people brought to his rifle course were registered with the state if they were "assault weapons" under the cali ban. I think he now requires students to specify what gun they will bring beforehand so he can say yay or nay.
I have them bring their firearm on the next to the last night to class to see what shape it is in. They must follow all the rules when they bring the firearm. It stays on the table and they can't touch it till time to leave. Most can use what they bring but some wouldn't make a good fence post. Also I don't allow tube mags as the coach on the range hands one shell at a time to the shooter. I.E. they load one at a time from the breech.
I hear of people walking into stores and just filling out a form for there hunting lincense no questions ask.. how is this possible ?? makes you feel a little unsafe in the woods
