Bush is in, but is gun threat gone?

Waa Hoo...Kerry is gone...but please don't ever think that ends the threat to gun ownership!
The patriot act (which Bush was responsible for) gives the governement so much extra power over the citizens, that it actually threatens our gun ownership and our very freedom too!
So pop a beer, and celibrate, but keep yer eyes open and your ammo dry (and hidden), because our current government is still looking more and more like pre-WWII Germanys did ...every day.

and no..I am not a democrate.

the threat is a lot less than if Kerry got in, and with the gains in the House and Senate, we are better off.

as far as the Patriot act, i do not feel threatened by it.

personally i dont feel endangered by the patriot act either. im no high dollar constitutional lawyer but i dont see where it is a danger to any law abiding person. but i do see where the power it gives can be misused. i dont think they should change a word of the patriot act but rather lay down some guidelines for its application. what guideline?...heck idunno? lol most of the ones that i can think of the democrats would never go for.

PapaG just likes the name of the Patriot Act, that's all.....brings back fond memories of his younger days while serving with the Continental Army....a time when he was able to freely Act like a Patriot in New Jersey....after the Revolution was won, PapaG refused to return to the Tory infested lands of New Jersey.....instead, he moved on.....to the lands that he and Daniel Boone had claimed before the war.....

Yup, boring day at the office here.....BUT A GREAT DAY FER AMERICA!

The way I look at it the patriot act doesn't bother me and I have now worries as long as we control the house and senate and executive office -- yes there are still threats but they can be dealt with accordingly. Stay vigilant and remind your representatives that you employ them and they need to listen to you and represent your interests.

......and that's why the Roughriders fought dismounted.....because of his proud Viking heritage, PapaG refused to fight on horseback (like a girly man), so Teddy ordered the entire outfit to leave their horses behind.....PapaG also refused to be issued one of them Krag rifles.....instead holding on stubbonly to his beloved .45-70 and battle axe.....

I dunno I'm with Rugger22 on the patriot act. If the government wants you arrested all they have to do is look in your garage. If you happen to have any items such as gasoline, nails, skrews, or draincleaner your in deep *&@# because you have the items nessisary for building a bomb. Also if you have too much gasoline your in trouble, although its not really clear on how much is too much.

Thats ridiculous.
Whether kerry is in or bush is in, the players are still the same,
the patriot act is still in effect,
and there are laws which you may be breaking right
but you can't know what they are

This is a scary time, man what I wouldn't
to go back when our greatest concern was the oral office scandal

I dunno, NorCal, the things Slick Willy did to distract us from his scandals... you know, bomb people... I for one have been really thankful to have a president without sex scandals. I do have concerns about governmental power increasing, but a republican legislature is one of the best tools against that. And remember, Dick Cheney fought against the "cop killer bullet" ban way back when. If that isn't pro-gun freedom, I don't know what is.

They way I see it...

Since you asked....

The 9/11 commision report and the legislation that will try to be rammed through into law is the most scary part of the immediate future. Since many of the usual suspects of junk bills and anti gun legislation are still in place watch for many 11th hour amendments and riders to be hitched onto otherwise good legislation.

We as gun owners need to settle down, stop high fiving and get back to the business of writing our electeds, especially on the heels of their wins, and let them know that now that they have the power to stop all the Liberal crud, right in it's tracks, we expect them to do so. We turned out in record numbers to tell them that. Now it is their turn to recognize who kept or put them in power and why.

We as gun owners need to continue to push for less gun laws and more freedoms. We need to continue to fight expanding the membership numbers and political power of the NRA, GOA, JPFO and the like. You know, our usual suspects that have stopped many a dangerous bill from becoming law.

With renewed vigor we should all be pressing for CCW for all states, pressing for less liberal judges, tort reform and a host of other things. We have not won the war, just one big battle.

All I know is that if that day comes, when the United States takes away my gun rights. I will be there to fight it with guns blazing. No one can take away my rights. And the only way to get my rifle from my hands, is to dig up my grave. I am willing to give up my life and everything that I have worked for for my rights. Even if it means giving up my life for it. I can only hope that that day will not come in my era. But if it does, may many others who share my passion choose the same road. I will fight, for my right, and for my guns. God Bless.

Any act that gives the the government the authority to enter my home without a warrant and when I am not home is wrong. The Patriot Act may sound good to the law abiding citizen but do not be fooled. This is just another infringement of our so called freedom.

The United States will not confiscate our guns (even if it does everything but). No, any president or senate would have to call the UN to do its dirty work.

Not sure how many years, but I think you're right. Remember they didn't do what Dole did and resign from the senate... they just were AWOL.

Edwards did the honorable thing and gave up his seat, unlike ketchup boy. So Edwards is gone, but frankenkerry is still around.

I have grave concerns about the patriot act. I thinkit needs to go and let's focus on the problem....rag heads. It's wrong to deny good citizens thier rights.
