Cabela's should have it for $270 - 320.00 its definitely a fun toy and can serve several purposes for you --- of course this is not a gun to strong side holster -- cross draw and have a good tight belt to hold the 5 lbs up -- also it was made to be holstered on the pommel of a saddle. Put a leather lace around the barrel and the charging bar the recoil will cause the bar to drop.

ok guys, what about this one? taken directly from http://www.traditionsfirearms.com/ 1860 Army Revolver Nickel This service revolver, originally created by Colt for the Union army during the war of the North and South, is a must for every black powder collector and shooter. Product Code: FR18603 $219.00 i know i keep picking the shiny ones and that is odd cause i generally like the blued guns better. but this one i want pretty like a button. while it will certainly get shot this will be one of my "display" guns. so, are the traditions pistols any good? it looks like my local S.I.R. mailorder company can get em in for me so that makes things a lot easier. |

Finally resigned to consigning my thirty year old faulty 1851 Navy to the display wall. I just ordered a spanking new brass-framed CVA 1851 Navy from Midway. They had some better ones made by other makers, but they were much more dinero! Next year, I'll see about getting a couple steel-framed guns. My 1860 Army let me down last time shooting it - the caps aren't popping. Too much dry-firing probably - the nipples seem a bit short. Might try putting a spacer under them. It helps to have some mechanical aptitude if you get into shooting cap&ball guns!

Troy -- I guess you will enjoy cleaning it as it will get very dirty when you fire it.

One thing I do like about the 1858s, you can buy a replacement cylinder (about $150) and shoot 45 LC instead of black powder. Its not an option on the 1851s.
