What handgun fits and holds the best?

My vote for the best fit and holding handgun is the LUGER. There are more effective handguns but all I am saying hold and fit.

Thumbs up

For me, nothing beats the Whitney Wolverine. It's the most comfortable, most natural-pointing handgun I've ever held!
If I were to design a 9mm service type pistol, it would be a beefed up locked-breech Wolverine!

Dana it depends completely on the individuals hands for me I need something with a large stock like the Beretta 92 with a Pach. wrap around or my 1911 with the Hogue's

revolver would be a toss up between the colt saa and the ruger blackhawk...auto would be either a 1911 or clone of one,or a taurus m-92

I'm with Lefty. Browning Hi-Power with Hogue grips. Also, the old Colt Detective Special with round-butt wood stocks.

DANA - For me the best fitting handgun, is really two of them, first, the Luger, and second the 1911 (and 1911A1). Both point well, and I do not really have to aim to hit the target, they shoot well from the hip.

The Model 29 S&W .44 Magnum, and the Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 Magnum are the best fitting revolvers for me, though the .500 S&W is close.

I like the SAA, but the handle needs to be at least an inch longer, because I can't get all of my fingers on it at one time, (all of the fingers of one hand of course), and the heel of my hand sticks down almost an inch below the handle.

On another note, what is the worst handgun for shooting, for you? For me, the Beretta 92F (M9), because it really torques my wrist, much more that the .500 S&W. Even shooting the 440 grain lead hard cast bullets in the .500 S&W doesn't torque my wrist like the Beretta 92F.

Lightbulb

For me, the real telling factors in handgun fit are the grip angle (Luger is great, 1911 points too low naturally in my hand), length of grip (most are too short for my huge mitts), and trigger/trigger guard fit. I have long, oddly angled (crooked, actually) fingers when curled into gripping position. Many trigger guards rub my trigger finger raw. Many triggers are painful after awhile too.
I find the skinny trigger of the TT33 very uncomfortable to shoot! I favor the wider target-style triggers.
Angles can get weird. My buddy's Colt .22 (newer style) has a very sharply angled grip that I just cant shoot very well.
Strangely, the grip angle of my Whitney is similar - but feels utterly wonderful! I haven't figured out why it's so perfectly suited to my hand yet, though it's a physically large pistol for a .22. It feels good!

Maybe just a matter of long term familiarity, but I'll stick with a S&W 6" mod.19.

One of these days you guys will get sick of me praising the Steyr M40 to death. I seriously can't think of a single handgun that does better, save in one area or two.

I was over at my shooting buddy's place today, and got to handle his newest gun - a shiny nickel-plated Taurus PT92AR. Nice! Fit my hand well. Dang, now I may need a new 9mm . . .

I have to say a Colt SAA is a very comfortable revolver to my hand As well as a Ruger Single Six. as for Autos. The Colt 1911 has a very natural point of aim for me.
