The P38's that are selling surplus now are real P38's. Unless they say P1....then well it's a P1. P1's have a shorter barrel among other things. Just make sure the Walther stamping says P38.
These are post-war alloy framed Walther made P38's made for the West German military, police, and border guards. They were phased out in the 60's, rearsenaled and stored in case they needed them. Now, like most european countries, they are selling them off.
Since the US is learning that stockpiles DO get used (1911's and m14's being used in Iraq) I'm not sure that's a good idea. But lucky for us Europe and Russia are in the selling mood.
