Fun to shoot people?

From today's Neal Boortz news page http://boortz.com/nuze/index.html :

The media has its thongs in a knot because a Marine general made some interesting comments during a panel discussion Tuesday in San Diego. Here is what Lt. Gen. James Mattis, who commanded troops during the war in Afghanistan said that is causing quite the stir:

"Actually it's quite fun to fight them, you know. It's a hell of a hoot. It's fun to shoot some people. I'll be right up there with you. I like brawling. You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn't wear a veil. You know, guys like that ain't got no manhood left anyway. So it's a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them."

Immediately the headlines blared that a Marine general said it was 'fun to shoot people.' No ... he didn't say it was fun to shoot "people." He said it was fun to shoot men who had been slapping women around for five years. Frankly, I agree with him. Thankfully the Marines and the Joint Chiefs are defending him, so it looks like his head won't roll over this one. He did issue an unnecessary apology saying he might have chosen his words better. Nonsense...his words were right on target.

Pacifist leftists who claim that 'war is not the answer' will try to use this as some sort of 'gotcha' against American troops to try and portray them as bloodthirsty killers. On the contrary, there was nothing wrong with Lieutenant General Mattis' remarks.

Hell, if given the chance to shoot and kill Osama Bin Laden, Al-Zarqawi or any of the other insurgents, you're !!!!ed right it would be a lot of fun. Might even be worth stuffing the head and mounting it on the wall.

oh the libs are in a fit of compassion or what???

being as the enemy likes to make sport and displays of their kills, the Marine is in his rights as far as i am concerned.

hey i got it, lets take them prisoners set them up on a conveyer belt, and have a carnival type shooting gallery. knock over Turban Abu and win a cupie doll.

I saw the thread title ("Fun to shoot people?") and thought that this was going to be a poll.

I have heard that since dig cams are now EVERYwhere
US soldiers are taking "trophy" Pics with Terrorists that they killed
and sending the pics home.
a memory card fits nicely in to a letter
The issue of controlling images or information from the theater of operations has been abandoned mostly.
under current circumstances it is almost impossible to control information, "vid and Pics" are every where.
we are going to see millions and millions of pictures of gore from this war.
I think its great
many liberals want to use the pics to enflame the emotions of most of the people that arent acclimatized to seeing such images.
it wont work for much longer.
there are too many vids of beheadings and people getting shot
its now passe, every one has seen it.

I understand the attitude (you beat women, you lose balls)
but as an officer he should've known better.
Its not news that people (and media) like soundbytes,
and thats one hell of a soundbyte.
Lt. Gen. James Mattis is going to be remembered
as a bloodthirsty :jarhead:

No, never back down. The problem today is there are far too many that won't say what needs to be said because they are afraid of the PC police. BS! My hat is off to this man, he said it as it is. The problem with these wars is the media gets to see what it is really like, and they don't like what they see. Do you think anyone in WW2 times would have given a rats azz about a small comment like this?

We need to fight this war, and fight it right.......F (you fill in the blanks) the media!
