It seems to me that on a post on this board recently, there was a reference to a shooting in which the shooter had two MAC 10's (maybe MAC 9) and a third pistol in .45 caliber. The two MACs misfired, and he did most of the shooting with the .45. That would not bode well for the MAC.

New versions made by MPA fixed some of the ergonomic problems from what I understand. I'd consider one myself.

The MAC's are picky on ammo, thus leading to stoppages with certain types. They don't like cast lead or plated bullets. You would be pretty much limited to FMJ. If you put a red dot sight on it - one word, "LOCTITE"! The screws tend to shoot loose on the mount.

Again, I think that may be a distinction between the Cobray MACs and the new MPA models.

I own a Vulcan Armament MAC10 Semi Auto Carbine in .45 cal and have had issues with it feeding, sometimes it will misfeed and I have been using Winchester FMJ. It does shoot very straight with some very tight groups. (16 barrel). The model I have I paid less than $475 for. I have added tactical rail, foregrip, laser, light and reddot and yes you have to use Medium strength lock tight on everything. (see Avatar)

BUY IT. But dont shoot it, and sell it after the value increases.

I have been thinking about picking one up as an investment. Not really a shooter. With the Democrats going back in Control in 08, it will likely increase in value.

My father (law enforcement) had a full-auto Ingram MAC from the early 80's. It was a blast to shot, but he couldn't afford to feed it. So, he sold it a few years back. I couldn't legally own it here in AL - they have state laws prohibiting SBR's. The one he had was dead reliable and about as accurate as you would expect.

Um, RPW, I seem to recall something about questional legality regarding pistols with stocks. I'd be careful about posting pics like that unless you're 100% sure it's legal. I'm not saying it's not, but just tryin' to look out fer ya.

If that Fake suppressor is PERMANENTLY attached and the OAL of barrel is just over 16 inches, then it is legal...Otherwise, by federal law, it is a Short barreled Rifle and must be registered as an AOW with BATFE... Just the facts !

Would I buy it??... Sure I would.

Would I buy it before a hundred other guns on my list of 'wants'? Nah.

Would I buy it if someone said it was $50 and everything was legal (and verified legal)? YUP!

i've actually looked into MAC-10s, but i probably wouldn't buy one, there are less bulky guns for the semi auto version, and I couldn't afford to feed it, i plan on getting a FFL class 3(i've been told that having that legalizes full auto) and a full auto Micro Uzi with the .22LR conversion kit as soon as legally possible

Sorry no as I have no use or desire for a cobray, just not practical for me and what I do or what I am trained to do.....

That same argument is made by the Liberal Second Amendment Deniers concerning the AR15, AK, and even the Ruger 10/22.

I see a civilian use for every gun, that is: "Because they want it, because the freedom of our country depends on it"

The Liberal movement starts with "So called assault weapons" and with the help of many well meaning hunters and sportsmen they are banned. Then comes all semi-autos, then the concealable guns, and so on and so on until we are turning over our grandfathers colt to be melted like in Australia. "Crime rate on the rise there now."

We sportsmen have to band together and understand that whether shooting up tin cans with a Mac, or bench resting a $5,000 bolt action.. our rights will end if we are concerned only about our particular "sport".

I have heard hunters say: "well if dey ban dem assault rifles that don't bother me, I don't think anyone should own that sort of thing anyway". That sort of thinking almost destroyed us just years ago.

I already have one. it is literally a blast to shoot. not very accurate but great for Columbian drug lords in an elevator. mine is 100% reliable with .45 hard ball.
