British school(s) banned children from playing tag — claiming it is too DANGEROUS.

Got to love stupid people...wrap our children in cotton least they get hurt.....Id hate to see these teachers reaction to Paintball or if God forbid a British surf took his kids shooting a firearm.
Barmy teachers ban tag

By ALASTAIR TAYLOR

A SCHOOL has banned children from playing tag — claiming it is too DANGEROUS.

Shocked parents were told pupils — aged from five to nine — must drop the centuries-old chase game.

British Bulldog has also been ruled out at Broomley First School in Stocksfield, Northumberland, because it has likewise been considered “too rough”.

But one parent fumed: “This is ridiculous. Children have played these games for years. The kids have started a petition.

“Falling over and scratching yourself or tearing trousers is part of life.”

And another dad claimed: “Bumps and bruises while playing games and sports is something you expect.”

North East Tory MEP Martin Callanan said: “It is a complete nonsense. I support the parents in this.

“These children are being stopped by over-zealous, safety-obsessed teachers.”

Head Helen Vaughan-Watkins wrote to parents telling them of the ban on the playground running games, adding: “We are not authoritarian in our ethos. We have a duty of care to the pupils.”

how has this got to do with anything there are a number of British/former British folks here on G&G. Many if not most people in the UK are opposed to what their goverment is doing - there's no need to snipe at their customs. We won the war centuries ago and it's all over & done with.

Exclamation

Yep, considering some things our own teachers and schools are pulling, we have no reason to gloat. This is a problem with an out-of-control Liberal Mindset that is pervading all nations! :insane:

Three years ago my wife and I visited a very nice couple there in Stocksfield, Northumberland, UK. They were great hosts, for sure. But...this report doesn't sound good for them. Stocksfield is a farming community surrounded with winding roads lined with hedges higher than the cars passing down the road...and an excellent golf/tennis club. But...in that part of the country it's difficult to tell when one moves from one town to another. The population crunch is putting more and more pressure on those residents. Maybe they've gone nuts from too much stesss and pressure. :jaw: :insane:

Fortunately, my wife and I won a heated tennis match against our hosts, so we presented them with white T-shirts with the American flag stenciled on it's back. :right:

This !!!! is happening all over the world, they keep going like this and it will be to dangerous to go to work, never mind doing the work. Hmm maybe that's what they need, everyone one to ring in saying "sorry can't make it in, I might get hurt on the way there".
Might be somewhere for those kids to start anyway, then what will there teachers do?

Yeah, it is not like we are talking about THE FRENCH or anything. But I keed, I keed!
I am impressed that we have any members left in the United Kingdom. Can you imagine how much crap they have to put up with over there? They probably consider Californina a gun-lover's haven.

I always laugh at these liberals who think nobody should get hurt, or feel bad because they lost or got a bad grade. I met a coworkers kid this weekend at the airfield and he has no self esteem -- now if these kids don't learn to fail and pick up after themselves then they better learn somewhere because the real world is not like that.

yup - we do some funny things too. Hey you can set a clock by the different times in the day my body demands coffee I might even join you in poking fun at the Brits in private conversation - just thought it might offend some of the Queen's folks here.

Okay lets get a few things straight. Although we have a lot of crap here in Cali, we still aren't Europe and people ARE fighting hard to stop it from being that:
1. Unlike Europe, you can own any number of firearms - you do not require a special permit. Now, types of firearms that's another story.
2. On your personal property or a temporary place of residency (e.g. hotel room) you can do what you want with your gun - carry it loaded, whatever. The 4th amendment is still valid (although they're trying to change that).
3. The right to personal defense and the right to use deadly force to save another citizen's life is legal (unlike Europe).

Instead of sniping and making fun, commend the efforts of organizations and individuals who are trying (fighting a losing battle but still trying). Sorry, don't mean to come at you but we're still not there and they'll have to take my guns away from my dead hands - I'm not even sure I'll live here in cali forever, but all I'm saying is that while it's bad it's not Europe...yet.

I feel that the policy of banning tag is ludicrous, but I cannot condemn the British; when we’ve needed a friend, they’ve been there. When I was in Jr. High, a ridge of hardwoods ran from my home to a few hundred feet above
I would squirrel hunt up the ridge arriving at school about 30 minutes before home-room. This gave us plenty of time to dress our squirrels, take a shower, change into out civies, and make first bell. We stored our rifles in our lockers, and the school kitchen was happy to allowed us to keep our game in the fridge till we left in the afternoon. No one gave any of this a second thought. Did we have our disagreements settled in the woods after school; of course, but no firearms were used, nor even considered even though they were readily available.
Now, we suspend children for “evil thoughts”, but I was raised in a different era, when you weren’t allowed to drink water during football practice; a practice which resulted in more than one case of heat prostration. I neither agree, nor condone the present trends toward non-aggression, but I have no argument sufficient to appease a “Soccer Mom” whose idea of a crisis is a fallen souflee’, or Mrs. Jones has a larger ring.
