McCandless girl, 17, wounded by boyfriend
Tuesday, March 01, 2005

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

A 17-year-old McCandless girl was accidentally shot by her boyfriend Sunday while the two were engaged in "bedroom activities," police said.

Timothy Madden, 23, of Ross, was charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and corruption of a minor.

The incident occurred just before 1 p.m. at Madden's residence in the Chateau Perry Apartments at 951 Perry Highway, said Ross senior detective and public information officer William Barrett.

"They were engaged in some bizarre activities in his bedroom," Barrett said. "The gun, we believe, accidentally discharged."

The girl, who, as a juvenile, was not identified by police, was wounded in the groin with a .45-caliber handgun and was taken to an undisclosed hospital.

accidental discharge my ?&* -- this was blantant stupidity --- the only bedrrom activity that should be conducted with ones 45ACP is the placing of it next to the bed for easy access

If I ever get to be in bedroom activities with a 17 yr old girl, my other gun would accidentally discharge prematurely in her groin too!!

In PA sex between a 23yr old and a 17yr old is statuatory rape.

The scariest part is that was practically my backyard.

I agree, the only use for a handgun in the bedroom is keeping it available for self and home defense.

I am not advocating kiddies having sex but the law is so messed up. It's statuatory rape for a 23 year old to have sex with a 17 year old but NOT for a 50 year old having sex with an 18 year old. To my dying day I'll never understand this.

easy Ducttape -- in your example the 18 year old under the law is a consenting adult -- a 17 year old is not --- just apply the new rules on the death penalty that was reversed yesterday

maybe in PA here in NY 17 is leagel age of consent but they can still get you for contributing to the deliquency of a minor. go figure.

Actually in PA it's complicated.

15 is the age of consent. Lower than that and it's statuatory, period. Not sure what they do when both are under 15. Between 15 and 18 they allow a 2yr age difference (I think it's two, maybe it's three). So the oldest guy that 17yr old girl could have would be 19 (or 20 if it's 3 years) and youngest would be 15. Or that may only apply if one is older than 18 and the other younger.

I personally think 16 should be the age for everything. If there is to be a more graduated system, it should be 16 and 20, not 18 and 21.

BRG 18 is good for voting, firearms ownership and being a legal adult responsible for one's self and the contracts they agree to. I can't see an immature 16 year old making those decisions.

I think it's a chicken or egg question on responsibilities and the ability to be responsible, at least in this case. 16yr olds fought in the American Revolution.

but during the revolution we didn't have 16 year old minds corrupted by criminal speak (rap ) back then the kids respected their elders and they were responsible

Exactly, it's not a matter of age but culture and influences. I'm not saying take every 16yr old and give them full adult rights, I'm saying 16yr olds are able to function as adults if recognized, treated, and influenced properly.

i can tell you at least fifty people who are around 40-70 years who aren't mature or responsible. knowledge and wisdom come with experience, not age.

experience is what you experience. a person can live years and not know a single thing about something if they don't experience it themselves.

age is just a measurement of how long you've managed to survive.

getting on topic, [creep]that's hawt.[/creep]
