Rapper Tells Toronto: Sorry For Assault

Ja Rule apologized to the city of Toronto after pleading guilty to assault in an altercation at a downtown nightclub last year.
``I'm just sorry about my actions,'' said the 29-year-old rapper, whose real name is Jeffrey Atkins, as he stood on courthouse steps Monday with his attorney, wife and bodyguards.

He received a $1,200 fine after pleading guilty to assault for an incident that took place at La Rouge Nightclub in June. He had faced a more serious charge of assault causing bodily harm.

``Hopefully this was a one-time outburst,'' Justice W.P. Bassel told him.

Ja said he was provoked by a crowd that had formed near him at the nightclub, shouting ``derogatory'' comments about his public feud with rapper 50 Cent.

The judge apologized to Ja for the ``disgraceful'' comments shouted at the nightclub, calling them an embarrassment for the city.

Ja Rule is an !!!...you know what they say "jail records sell records". But it's not the rappers alone - everyone seems to be doing this crap & getting away with it. Ball players, actors, so on. The judge apologized for what ? His job is to interpret the law, that's all. Doesn't make sense.

should have done time for this and gunssb is right everyone is doing it -- recently that dirtbag Kid Rock got busted in Nashville for fighting at a local strip club he got a quick visit to night court for arriagnment and was released -- he will probably hire and attorney to get him off with a small fine.. I think we need to get the standards enforced because if it was any of us we would get our butts fried.

Yes, gotta agree. But, you guys missed the last line.....and I asked you not to! that's the reason for the post! The judge apoligizing to this vermin because his feeling got hurt! Makes the city look bad? Nope, vermin who act like this make your city look bad, judge. :nod: And judges, like you, make the system look bad. :nod:
