yeah, and no new refinerys on the horizon, because the enviro-nazi's been blocking it since 1969.

normally when a product is in demand, the maker increases production by increasing the factory. so its not just oil companies screwing us.

I was in a gas station the other day and they had on of the emails posted that called for a boycott of all gas stations that use Middle East Oil, they obviously were on the list of those who don't. Mentioned it to boob behind counter and he said it was rediculous they way those stations gouged their customers.

Couldn't help myself, I asked him if they were not using Middle East oil, where did they get off charging the same rate as the ones who he said were price gouging.........

He didn't think that was too funny....told me so himself...

I laughed in his face though.........

Seems as simple as this to me. The gasoline retailers raise the price "because they can." Regardless of where their supplier is located they all raise their prices when the large suppliers raise their's. That's called taking advantage of the situation...and us gasoline buyers are gouged by both types of dealers.

and how many of you would still be in business, IF you didn't raise the retail price when the wholesalers raise theirs, regardless of the product???

you had a gas station and kept your prices at last years levels, how long do you think you'ld be pumping gas???

You're exactly right Papa. And believe me, I have first hand knowledge because I work in the development dept of a major c-store chain. Its as simple as supply and demand.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I was not blaming the station owner, just couldn't resist yanking his chain as he was running down the guy across the street for having high gas prices due to middle eastern oil, when his prices were exactly the same......

fill up and get free sex

A gas station in Mississippi was trying to increase it's sales so the
owner put up a sign saying "Free Sex with Fill-up." Soon a local
"redneck" pulled in, filled his tank, and then asked for his free sex.

The owner told him pick a number from (1) to (10), if he guessed
correctly, he would get his Free sex. The buyer then guessed (8), the
proprietor said, "You were close. The number was (7). Sorry, no sex
this time."

A week later, the same redneck, along with a buddy, Bubba, pulled in
for a fill-up, again he asked for his free sex. The proprietor again
gave him the same story, and asked him to guess the correct number. The
redneck guessed (2) this time, again the proprietor said, "Sorry, it
was
(3). You were close, but no free sex this time."

As they were driving away, the redneck said to his buddy, "I think that
game is rigged and he doesn't really give away free sex." Bubba
replied, "No it ain' t Billy Ray, it's not rigged -- my wife won twice
last week." :right: :cheer:

Exclamation

As to that refinery blowup in Texas, according to the news reports, it is producing as much after the blowup as before. The part that blew wasn't on-line at that time, and is used further up the process, not directly for oil production itself. It shouldn't affect the price - but it is used as an excuse.
The Saudis increased production a bit, and say they will do so again - still the price climbs.
The oil companies are trying to build up a surplus for next winter's needs - and still the price rises.

Reminds me of that old country song . . .
"How high's the price, Momma?"
"Two Nineteen and rising . . . "
(With apologies to Johnny Cash)

The bottom line is, as long as we gladly line up for the cr-ap, they will keep charging what they want. They have us by the hoo ha's and they know it. What really needs to be done is everyone park their cars for a few days and give the oil company's a big F U....The worst part is since the Gubmint got their fingers into gas via taxation years ago, and the EPA is running round like a pack of unchecked eco nazis, the system is so fouled up it will never change short of revolt....

sadly you are right, and we have not gotten to where we can't deal without driving
or anything we can use other than gas.

In the South San Francisco Bay Area, Specifically the San Jose Area, yesterday it was:

Cheap No Name Stations:

Avg. $2.299 for Regular Unleaded
Avg. $2.399 for 89 Octane
Avg. $2.499 for 91 Octane Premium

Name Stations Chevron, BP, 76, Shell, . . .:

Avg. $2.419 for Regular Unleaded
Avg. $2.539 for 89 Octane
Avg. $2.659 for 91 Octane Premium

The State prefers the price going up, because of taxes. We pay the Federal tax which is a per gallon tax, we have a State per gallon tax, and we have a State sales tax. The Federal Gov't and the State get the same amount of money per gallon regardless of the number of gallons used. Then for the sales tax, when the price per gallon goes up, then the State gets more sales tax money per gallon, and the spender politicians love it!

Hey Matt...Got any oil wells pumping on your lawn down there in Eufaula, Oklahoma? Some guys have all the luck. As you know, even your state Capitol building has it's own well pumping out the lawn. Think they're worrying about oil prices?
