I got a notice once, but was in the Army down in Georgia at the time. I sent them a copy of my orders and was excused. That was 24 years ago.

Unhappy

I've been on the selection process several times. Actually got selected for one once - but the perp was given a plea-bargain deal, and our case was dropped.

One case I really wanted to get on was an Arabic man who was accused of gun-running here in Florida, and the BATF had two boxes of documenting evidence - the judge estimated it would take maybe three days, mostly I think sifting thru the papers. Just after 911, I really wanted to be on that jury! But when I admitted when questioned to being an NRA Lifer and a gun collector - "You are dismissed!"
Neither side wanted me on that jury!

that's what happened with me...I was on a Jury..we heard 3 witnesses give testimony then we went to lunch..the defendant took the prosecutor's deal and plead guilty to "Rape of a Minor"...10 years for repeatedly raping his six year old granddaughter..he got 10 years, she got life..we never got a chance to render our verdict..but he was guilty

Earlier this year I received a notice to appear for jury duty. During the selection process the attorneys asked if any of us had guns or belonged to the NRA. I was sworn to tell the truth so had to raise my hand. I'm convinced that that was why I was released from serving on the jury. Hey...I was looking forward to the possibility. That's the only time I've been contacted regarding jury duty in my lifetime. Strangely, some people get called several times from what I hear.

I worked with a guy who got called FIVE TIMES IN A ROW. Literally the month he became eligible he would get a summons. Every time he ended up seated on the jury. It was like clockwork.

Sure way to get 'let go' . . .

Walk in and declare loudly, "Let's hang this _________ so I can get back to cleanin' my guns!" :cheer:

here in PRK I moved cities once and a thingie went to the old address. I eventually got a bench warrant and almost had to pay a 2500.00 fine.

Now that i am a law student, I am permanently excused from jury duty.

Like Shaun, I'm a police officer. They seem to think I might vote "Guilty" and won't let me participate.

I have gotten a letter every year for the last eight years to appear for jury duty. The letter usually arrives in April, I have not got one yet this year, but hey it is only the 1st of April. Every year I send a letter back to the court, saying that I am the sole income earner for my family and that sitting on a jury would cause me undo financial hardship. Every year I get the same letter back from them saying that I am excused from serving on jury duty for the next year.

About 5 years ago this same thing started with my wife, she gets the letter, and she sends back a letter stating that she has small children, and does not have adequate day care for them. The court also excuses her for another year and then the next year she also gets another letter.

I think my excuse will work longer, my wife's excuses aren't getting any younger.

I got tapped for FEDERAL jury duty back last January, but I didn't get called. I got a letter a week ago, assigning me to local jury duty the week of April 18. I wonder if I should get a haircut.
Wouldn't it be cool if they ran the jury selection process like the did the reception station? Marshalls, instead of Drill Instructors, screaming at you to get off the bus. They drag you away and cut your hair, and give you new clothes and do pushups.
