your reading the classified ads in the paper. you spot a for sale "old gun $100." you call and make an appointment to see it.
you meet the seller, he says he inherited it from his late grandfather, but he doesn't like guns and wants to get rid of it, or give it to the gummint for destruction. the family heirloom has been in the Civil War, went with the family out west, supplied game, fought indians, protected the homestead from all threats. but the seller doesn't care about that.so do you:
A. give the $100 dollars and chuckle over your having saved a valuble piece of history from sure destruction.
B. offer to give him its true intrinsic value.

Hmmm . . . since he is an antigun Lib and has no appreciation for it - I'd pay him the C-note and carry the gun away grinning, knowing I preserved a piece of history.
already happened to me. a while back (some may recall) i had a buddy wanting to get rid of one of his old guns he got from his wifes dad. i saw it was a original colt saa i told him it was worth alot more than he was asking. dana from here helped me get a ballpark value on it for my buddy. maybe i would have got it if he wasnt a friend of mine? lol who knows?
He knows what he has and doesn't care. Good enough for me. Hand him the money, and be gone with the gun before the dust can settle. Giggling like a kid at Christmas the whole time.
