A growing number of stores in Canada are no longer accepting 50 and 100 dollar bills cause of the suspision of counterfeit money. Some stores have the pens or the fancy scanner but some stores just say forget it and want smaller change. That guy should make an example of Best Buy and everyone involved in the fiasco.

I'd love to see, as a protest, a bunch of G&Gers go in there and buy stuff with $2 bills, Susie B and Sac dollar coins, and any other oddball legal tender we could scrape up. Heck, even rolled penny coins!

Oh I bet the attorneys are pounding on his door for this case -- definitely a good false arrest and then you have the unlawful use of force and then you have the Bestbuy behavior

I can excuse the cashier for being an idiot, but to have the cops called on a customer for passing counterfeit bills took more then just some gum smacking airhead - you'd think the store manager would have taken a look too. As for the cops, their training should have told them that NO ONE IS GOING TO MANUFACTURE FAKE $2.00 BILLS, it costs more to print then they're worth. Poor guy hit a black hole when it came to common sense.
I too look forward to "Jerry's Best Buy" opening in the future.

Knowing the extent of training Best Buy gives their kids (they are just that or just barely out of their teens) I can see them POSSIBLY not knowing about $2 bills.
But...dang....the cop(s) need to have a new job for what they put that guy through.
Although I would love to see this guy get some justice I know that any store has the right to question the currency they receive.
Regardless, this guy went through something he should never have had to.

Bwahaha! | Hee hee hee........
I once paid a bill, I think it was about 45 dollars, in loose pennies in a one gallon Ice cream bucket....
:joker:
It was an overcharge on a bill that was later straightened out. I was told I had to pay first and then they would sort it out or I would go to collection goons...so, I showed up with 5 pennies more than the bill and told them if they did not accept this legal tender, they would have to sue me. (They clearly told me they accepted cash)
I sat right there till they were down to about 12 pennies and told them there were 5 extras there. When they went to give me the extras I told them I preferred a nickle as I didn't want all those loose pennies in my pocket.......
I recieved a check for the 45 (ish) dollars about a month and a half later, thanking me for the prompt payment, but an audit of my bill showed that I had in fact overpaid. They apologized for any inconvienince this had caused.........

I actually paid my ex 10,000 in one dollar bills for the monetary part of our "settlement". The best part was that when I showed up with the loot, she signed the reciept BEFORE I dumped all the ones on her desk. As I turned to head out the door she screamed in a panic "you can't leave yet, I haven't counted all of this!" I turned around, held up the signed reciept and said, "this little piece of paper says you have!"
As always, in an attempt to not be a dirt bag, there really was ten grand in the pile. To top it off, they were all new bills which are a beeatch to separate and count.
It still blisters my back side to think about the fact that if I had of just shot my first wife when I first thought about it, I'd be out by now? ?
