Smile mini-14 & bent brass

I bought a mini-14 ranch rifle a couple of years ago. I noticed that the
neck of the casings get badly bent when fired. The opening on the neck is bent half closed on every casing I can find. Is this normal for the ranch modle or should I have the gun looked at?

Mine does the same thing. I have noticed where the cases spin and hit the op-rod just behind the handle, and I'm not sure if that is when the case mouth get dented or not. It really throws the brass so that could also be where it bend the cases. Mine does not bend all the case mouths, but maybe one out of five.
