Angry No shoot'n for almost a week!

Yeah I slipped and fell on a nice sharp piece of metal, and got almost an inch deep slit on my right wrist. Once I got to the ER and unwraped the shirt off my arm, started squarting everywhere. Had to get 5 stiches.
No shoot'n for almost a week man
What am I going to do now?

Practice one-hand reload and weak-hand-shooting drills! :target:

Hummm....I never tried to really shoot lefty, everything feels strange on that side.
Maybe the little MkIII, well with a 4" BullBarrel it takes a lot of consentration to hit stuff with the right hand..humm I might as well give it a try though. At time's like this I wish I had more revolvers. And maybe the SKS can help me out as well. I'll have to get back with ya on this.

Thanks fellas. I hope so as well. I am usually a fast healer. But then again I have never had a cut this deep. Ankles, knees, shoulder, and back injuries, but I have been fortunate not to get a lot of lacerations.
Gotta try more off hand shooting anyway I guess. :right:

myarmor - It would be unbearable for me to not shoot for that long, that is why I made it a point to shoot with either hand, long ago. You never know when you may be in a situation where you absolutely have to shoot with the weak hand, and it could cost you your life if you can't!

When I was in Marine Corps Boot Camp, I found the value of that capability, because on Thursday afternoon (Friday was Qualification Day) the right lens fell out of my glasses and shattered. I had the choice to try to shoot right handed, not being able to see past 20 yards or so, or to request permission of the Senior Drill Instructor, to shoot left handed.

In those days, everybody shot right handed, and there was not going to be a left handed shooter in the Marine Corps! Surprisingly, the Drill Instructor got permission for me to shoot left handed, and he looked at me and said, "Private, if you don't qualify, you are going to surgery immediately after qualification, to get my boot extracted from your ***, because I can't afford to buy another pair of boots!"

You can imagine the pressure on me, because I had never even held the rifle in a shooting position, left handed. Well, the M1 Garand carried the day for me, I qualified 247/250 High Expert (I do not remember how many "V"'s), and despite taping my collar closed, I had at least 5 ejected empty cases inside my shirt. They did put me on the end of the line, so that my feet wouldn't interfere with a "Real Shooter". My score was enough to help my Platoon win the Company Competition, that day. The Senior Drill Instructor came over to me, and said, "I don't know how you did it, but you saved me from embarrassing myself, because I don't think I could get my boot high enough to kick your *** with it!" He had the biggest **** eating grin I had ever seen on his face!

Oh, the replacement glasses caught up with me almost 4 months later, after I had already gotten some replacement glasses in town.

Wink

Take the downtime to study more firearm history. Learn about other guns that you've not learned yet. Order more ammo, and maybe some parts you need for fixing/upgrading the guns you have. Get intimate with a Brownell's catalog! Lots of things to do!

I wish you a speedy recovery!

Well I went and inspected the site of my "incedent" and turns out it wasn't a piece of metal, no better yet, the bottom end of a shattered beer bottle that stuck up in me.
Oh well.
Some good advice as well as much appreciated support my friends :cheer:
I do need some more 7.62 ammo both for my SKS and Nagants.......
Then again I probably need to save my money for the enormus ER bill I am about to get :insane:

Guess that broken beer bottle was in the wrong place. Sorry about your injury myarmor.

And Gyrene, that was a great story you related to us above. I enjoyed every word of what you wrote. :right:
