| Senior Member | If you do decide to get a collar, get a better quality one. I don't remember the brand of the one we use. We paid around $100.00 for ours. We went through a couple of the cheap ones from Wal Mart. They are not worth the initial savings, the cheap ones will use a lot of batteries. Make sure that you don't get one that has a warning tone, because the dogs will learn that they can bark once, wait a couple of seconds and bark again. The one we use also allows you to adjust the charge. When I first started using it, I set it to full, and once the dog stopped barking so much I set it on the mid level. |

| Senior Member | I saw a Hi Freq transmitter the other day that I am going to get. It sends a Hi pitch noise that you can't hear but is anoying to your dog. The add says that your dog will learn very soon not to bark. Going to try. DANA Last edited by DANA; 05-14-2005 at 05:29 PM. |

| Senior Member ![]() | Had a neighbor that let their mutt bark all night. I finally called them at at dark4:30 AM and just said "either you or I am going to shut your dog up". How do you want it? I never heard that dog again. If I tell my dog to shut up they do it!, or bring me a piece of flesh to prove they needed to bark, growl, etc. A dog that dosen't do what it's told is just a friendly doodoo pump. Yup small town cops have to do those things because they had to listen to your neighbor whining in the phone to "do something". They're worse than the dog was most of the time.

| Senior Member | ??? Last time the local crew got a call about me it wasn't the dog's fault. Shortly after midnight one night a few months ago I decided to run a 20 rnd mag of 7.62 out into the woods - as I'm prone to do from time to time - just cause it sounds good echoing in the night. The new neighboors up the street who had been there about three or 4 weeks were very un-sociable bible thumpers - wouldn't even wave driving by and such. I guess, thinking about it, they hadn't heard any ordnance since moving in so after they crawled out from under the bed they called the local dispatcher "there's large automatic gun fire going off in the neighborhood" - the dispatcher told them "it's just your neighbor down the street, I wouldn't worry about it" The "for sale" sign went up the next day! Actually, all the neighbors around the area here all know that I'm a patriot and gun nut and will all tell anyone who asks that they're glad I'm up here because they know the neighborhood is well protected. They always laugh and say "Our neighborhood watch program has it's own spec ops/SWAT team!"

| Senior Member | :flame: :flame: :flame: :flame: :flame: If you quiet your dog enough, it won't warn you when the bad guys enter your property. I would say to the neighbor to go and @$#%$^%$##@@#$% themselves and if anything happens to my dog, MR 357 will knock in their door !!!!! Of course, I don't have a dog or any kind of animal in my home, for home defence I rely in my mossy 590. :gangster: :gangster: :gangster: :gangster: :gangster:
