Talking

" . . . they sell quality soviet ammo, comerad."

Where? Not my Wally! Hard enough to find good USA-made ammo there. Even the .22 stocks are getting poorly.

Hey at least they didn't go the way of K-mart, chasing rainbows(euphamism)
and stop selling guns and ammo!
I worked at Target back in 1980, we sold remington BDL and winchesters, now they don't even carry cap guns!

Capitalism, they got so big by simply being the best, one day someone else will come along and take their spot.

I wouldn't say they exactly support the 2nd A, they just sell guns for money. They also have additional paperwork on buyers that is reviewed by several levels of management. I have the funny feeling that there are people out there who would pay for lists of gun owners for a de-facto registration since the NICS records may not by law be used as such.

I WILL NOT buy guns at Wal Mart. Ammo maybe, they're actually good about that. Dunham's makes you fill out a form every frigging time you buy ammo from them.

The last thing I want to do is give them a monopoly. So I prioritize my purchases from small stores, to Trader Horn, to the supermarket, and then last to Wal Mart if it can't be found elswehere.

walmart took on california and lost. they cant sell guns here. they were banned for a year. that was 5 years ago.

you shoudl support wal mart and barret arms and every company that has gone head to head with the PRK.

I mostly only buy ammo there. I can get 100 rounds of top quality .40 cal winchester 165 grain in good reloadable brass for 15.12 per box. The next closest price is turners (who is also worth supporting) at 17.99 per box. Local gun store (there aint many left) 24.99, 10 dollars more.

All other items such as slings, cleaning supplies, etc I go with mom and pop or turners.

It's a big problem, we have to save money to buy more weaponry, but we have to support mom and pop shops.

In reality, what gun shop owner doesn't sell guns for money? My wife and I sell books, love books, and support literacy. However, we don't own a book business to lose money or just because we like having a library that is bigger than any person should own. I can't begrudge Wal-Mart for selling guns just to make money. Remember, Sam Walton lived in rural Arkansas. Come listen to the story of 'bout a man named Sam...

Wal-Mart is responsible for 2% of the U.S. GNP, as well. I bought clay pigeons and a bore snake there once. And some Bob Allen gloves. Those three things were cheaper there than in any gun or sporting goods store I'd been to prior.

Don't shop for the atmosphere. Good god.

They still sell ammo, and much of it just sitting on the shelf
where anyone can just open the box and steal.
I've seen a few boxes open at my local wal-mart.

I mean they as a company wouldn't shed a tear on any loss of gun rights. Their selling of guns has nothing to do with their support of the 2nd A. Their usual stock would survive practically any realistic gun ban. I think every gun I see at wal World is CA legal.

Too bad they can't sell em here anymore

But I agree, big stores don't give a rats a about your rights. For instance, I've never seen any big 5 store in CA (one north & 3 stores in the south I've been to) sell centerfire semi-autos since it's too controversial & scares mommies with kiddies

So are they not going to sell here in CA at all anymore? I had this sweet .22 mag I was getting, but when I went to pick it up they told me they were not going to sell for a month or two while they got 'training' on how to properly comply with the laws. At any rate, I walked by the sporting goods section and they had taken out the plastic cases. Too bad, they had some good deals...

as for ammo, cheaperthandirt.com

you should support mom and pop shops, when it comes down to buy quality or buy quantity, i don't know about any of you, but i'll go with quality. when both products are of the same quality, but different prices, i usually go with the cheaper. though if the chaper product is sold by a group that has proven itself to be no friend of the community, then i go with the other one.

of course, this is coming from someone who prefers to buy russian/soviet style gear. i suppose it all comes down to the fact that i just don't like wal-mart.

I wouldn't say they got to be the best but they got to be better than K-mart or Roses.

When we got a WW in 1990 they carried quality electronics such as Pioneer and Sony; they didn't look like the dreary inside of a prison and had more stuff to choose from. Thats what did it. they gave yoiu a better choice.

But things went downhill fast when daddy died and the spoiled brats took over.

They certainly made the best decisions. You don't get to be the largest retailer in the world by being 2nd best.

And that's the beauty of capitalism. Eventually they will screw up too bad, someone else will have a better idea and Wal-Mart won't be number 1 anymore.

Don't get me wrong, I support my local businesses as much as I can but I don't feel guilty at all shopping at Wally-World either.
