I guess it is true - found this at BBC. Did a google search for "42 midgets" and this is one of what I got.

Stopper...I would bet you're correct in that this story is probably another hoax. But...it's certainly interesting to think about. :nod:

My question is were the midgets made to tackle the lion bare-handed ? Or did they have any weapons ? knives ? spears ? I doubt I can find 42 large grown men who will face an African lion empty handed
