Man Shot By Store Clerk After Robbery Attempt

The Greenbrier Police Chief said a man trying to steal weapons from the "Guns and Leather" store on Highway 41 South Monday afternoon was shot by the clerk.


Officials said the clerk shot Courtney Hall, II in the back twice following a brief struggle.

That struggle happened after Hall allegedly tried to steal weapons form the store.

Hall was taken by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the clerk shot Hall because he believed Hall was reaching for a weapon and he feared for his life.

Police said they were looking at surveillance video of the incident, but they weren't sure if the clerk would face charges.

A few yrs back a local gun store was robbed and the clerk was founded dead in the restromm of the store with 2 on the back of the neck. there were no force entries and that lead investigators to think that the clerk knew the robbers.

About a yr later, some of the weapons were founded in a drug dealing ring stash and further investigation lead to the assasins which in fact knew the clerk.

We had a guy walk into a local shop, picked up a used shotgun from the rack, chamber a round that he had brought with him and shot himself.
