From the Senate Floor, Durbin likens US Service men to Nazis

On one occasion, the air conditioning had been turned down so far and the temperature was so cold in the room, that the barefooted detainee was shaking with cold. . . . On another occasion, the [air conditioner] had been turned off, making the temperature in the unventilated room well over 100 degrees. The detainee was almost unconscious on the floor, with a pile of hair next to him. He had apparently been literally pulling his hair out throughout the night. On another occasion, not only was the temperature unbearably hot, but extremely loud rap music was being played in the room, and had been since the day before, with the detainee chained hand and foot in the fetal position on the tile floor.

If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime--Pol Pot or others--that had no concern for human beings. Sadly, that is not the case. This was the action of Americans in the treatment of their prisoners. Sen. Dick Durbin, an Illinois Democrat

We are fighting an enemy that murdered 3,000 innocent people on American soil 3 1/2 years ago and would murder millions more if given the chance--and according to Dick Durbin, our soldiers are the Nazis. This MFer is comparing or soldier to Nazis because the AC was turned on and off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In case this talking sphincter didn’t know it these people come from a desert country - you know where it's hot. By the way, when in the Hell did the Nazis have rap music. Can I charge the rolling boom box beside me in traffic with assault for subjecting me to that crap?

Wonder why nobody believes them when the democraps say, "We support the troops" when their party leaders spew this bilge.

Dick Durbin recently uncovered this alternate scene for Star Wars: A New Hope:

Obi Wan: "I feel a great disturbance in the Force. As if a million of voices suddenly cried out in terror, and then, suddenly, silence."

Luke: "Alderan was destroyed by the Death Star?"

Obi Wan: "No...they turned the air conditioner off at Gitmo! Ah...AHHHHHRRRRGHHH!"

Luke: "Ben! What's wrong?"

Obi Wan: "They...they...TURNED THE AIR CONDITIONING BACK ON!!! Such suffering!!!"

Shamelessly copied from right wing news.

Guantanamo jailed gone back to 'battlefield'- U.S.

Guantanamo jailed gone back to 'battlefield'- U.S.
Wed Jun 15, 2005 10:11 AM ET

By Marie-Louise Moller

BRUSSELS (Reuters) - A dozen prisoners released from Guantanamo Bay have returned to "the battlefield" to fight against the United States, U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales said on Wednesday.

"There are several people that we have released that we know have come back and fought against America because they have been recaptured or killed on the battlefield," he said after meetings in Brussels with European Union officials.

He said 12 people may have been recaptured or killed.

He acknowledged that the prison camp for foreign terrorism suspects was causing concerns among U.S. allies, but he said Guantanamo detainees were treated in accordance with international law.

Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Vice-President Dick Cheney this week both defended the camp, which is at a U.S. base in Cuba, after U.S. lawmakers said it had created an image problem for the United States.

Gonzales said the camp would be closed eventually, but that the decision rested with President Bush.

"There will of course be an end," Gonzales told reporters. "Ultimately that will be ... for the commander-in-chief to decide when that will be," he added without giving any timetable.

The United States holds about 520 prisoners from more than 40 countries at Guantanamo, which it opened in January 2002 during the U.S.-led war in Afghanistan where most of the detainees were captured after the Sept. 11 attacks.

The camp has come under heavy criticism in Europe where activists decry the length of time inmates have been held and say prisoners' rights to a fair trial have been ignored. Gonzales admitted it was a cause for concern among allies.

"We want to listen and we hear their concerns and we are constantly re-evaluating what we are doing," he said.

But he also underlined the difference between the United States which sees the fight against terrorism as a war and many European states which tackle the problem as a crime.

"As a result different rules apply," Gonzales said.
