I walked in to my Fave gun shop just "be bopping" along
I have been getting in to this Black Powder thing
And low and Behold.........
They had put it on the shelf in the back that Says "Hold For Dennis"
And Like before
They where laying in wait like a lion at the Waterhole.......
snickering just knowing.........
My "friend" was there behind the counter with that smug look on his face, and like the spawn of Satan he said with that drippy voice
I GOT Sumtin for You...
And like a wide eyed little child I said What is it?
And he whipps out a beautiful brass framed .36 cal 1851 navy colt (CVA)
its missing the wedge retaining screw
Looks like a "kit" gun that some father and son had assembled, the Brass needed quite a bit of finnishing and it had been fired and left un cleaned for an undeterminant amount of time.
So it wasnt as compelling as some of the guns he had ambushed me with, but it had potential with a little elbow grease and dremeling.
so $40.00 +tax later
I walked out with Another Black Powder Pistol........
I guess Ya cant have too few.
About 8 hours of labor later The Brass is cleaned up the casting seams are polished out and its shaped right, the nipples are unstuck and the whole thing is cleaned up.
The barrel and Cylinder is fine no pitting just a little surface rust that is Now Gone.
I gave it to My ol lady so she wont feel left out
I gotta get .36 cal balls and wads
and mebbe a few spare parts
I was concidering getting one of the brass framed 1851 navys and
Plop! one falls in my lap for $40 bucks
If you bought it and almost immediately gave it to your wife, those 36 cal balls may be a little large! Jus' jokin', put the gun down! Congrats on the new toy! Don't let Mamma shoot ya with it!
oww shes got several others that shoot much better
We went and shot the thing today the hammer doesnt hit the nipples all the way so I gotta do a little work on it
It shot some times and some times it didnt
Still fer forty bucks I aint complaining.
