Government Keeps secret database on Citezens

Still think giving the government supreme authority is great!

TSA OUT OF CONTROL?

Now you would think that when the Congress of the United States instructs a federal agency not to do something, that that particular federal agency wouldn't do it! Well .. you might think that --- but you would be wrong.

We're talking about the TSA here. Some time ago the Congress explicitly told the TSA that it was not to collect information on the people who were flying on commercial airlines. The TSA said OK, fine ... we won't gather that information. Was the TSA serious? Did the instructions from Congress stop the TSA? Evidently not. Ignoring the instructions from Congress, the TSA just marched right out there and hired a private firm (EagleForce Associates) to collect detailed information on every single passenger who flew on a commercial airline flight in the U.S. in June of last year. The first step was to compel the airlines to turn over their passenger name records for that month. The next step was to gather every bit of commercially available information on every one of those passengers. This includes your full name, How concerned do you think the current administration is with preserving the privacy of U.S. citizens?
Very
Somewhat
Not at all

home address, the addresses of any other homes you may own, your birth date, the name and gender of your significant other, and even the latitude and longitude of the place where you live! All of this information was put on CDs and sent back to the airlines to compare with watch lists.

This is illegal. It's against the law. The 1974 Privacy Act forbids the government from keeping secret databases on citizens. We're supposed to be operating under the rule of law here, and the TSA is not above the law. Let's see how deep this investigation goes, how seriously George Bush takes this breach, and how many heads roll.

well Rufus...its like this, i have been a Citizen of this fine country for 58 years, and entered the database with my birth certificate. who knows what infor the gummint is privy to in my schools "permanent records". then theres the database addition when i got my "drivers license". off course the Feds got into the act when i applied for my SS# and registered for the draft. naturally the gummint needed to know more...so i enlisted in the Army. unemployment office has a record of my employment. past employers have my records too. NSA has records of my actions via security clearances(t/s checks are a blast).

i have never ever been denied or viewed suspiciously. so i think all theis paranoia is nothing more than a crock of shat!!!

no chains on me baby, hence no fear. al this unrelenting paranoia is a bigger chain to your Freedom and Liberty than actual chains. your chains are in your mind, they don't have to be real to hold you down. such a lark reading all this crap. do you guys still sleep with the lights on???

the sentence "Those who fear Liberty do not deserve it" who said that???

What is the issue is that congress specifically said DON'T do this and they did it anyway. I guess they believe they are above the law. The constitution specifically forbids this. Surprisingly haven't heard much from the republicans about this.

Wonder why that is?
