if only 1 handgun, which one?

If you for some reason could only have 1 handgun, which one would you choose? Why?

Strange as it may sound, either a Ruger Single Six or Ruger Mark III Hunter .22. Lots of fun, accurate, inexpensive to shoot. In a pinch, it beats tooth and nail for self-defense.

I am thinking maybe a Glock 34. Ammo is plentiful and inexpensive, I can use hi-cap mags, it is reliable, accurate, and fits my hand wonderfully.

Glock 20. It holds 16 glorious rounds of 10mm. 135gr JHP at 1600fps is...explosive

Is the glock 20 the only 10mm that holds more than 10 rounds?

I believe the model 35 is also a hi-cap.

Glocks, whatever. I think I screwed my thread up by going off topic asking about high cap 10mm's.

Anyway, what about 1 handgun which one?

Well, you could make it more interesting andsay that in ascenario where you could CARRY only one and had to take it pretty far, a realistic situation where you'd have to pick one gun, then what would it be?

nice simple .357 wheel gun. Nice for home defence and you can fire .38 special out of them for fun.

I'd have to say a .357 Mag as well. While I Like the look and feel of the GP100, I'm not opposed to one of the 8 shot offerings from Taurus and Smith. There is also something to be said for finding an inexpensive police turn in M66 or like. -UR

i have read a lot of stuff about the .357 being THE man stopper. gonna get one some day. i got a CZ75 in 9mm. an assortment of ammo, some SXT's, some Hydra Shoks, and a whole bunch of the ball ammo. i would feel safe with my current CZ. it holds 15 in the mag to by the way.

As much as I dearly love my Colt 1911, I'd have to go with my Ruger .357 Security Six, for an 'only handgun' scenario - it's simply more versatile.

I actually like hearing why people like the different types of guns, and
thought it would be easiest to find out about this by asking the
question the way I did.

I'll probably get interested in the carry situation at some point though,
and post a thread about that.

I have to face this in a overall approach.

.357 Revolver. as long as there is the ability to use a speed loader and .38 ammo to vary the usefulness of the gun.

I'd prefer either a Ruger, Taurus or S&W. Ported barrel if possible. I know S&W has one as a stock option.

Good all round gun, can take down any game, and any Tango too! :joker:

Also with the .38 it is not a bad target gun and the lighter loads will keep from tearin up smaller game......

As a self defense weapon, well there are none more dependable IMHO.

And it has to be a big mo.... in stainless steel just for the sheer pucker factor!

i dont own a handgun (yet) but with my limited shooting experience, i like the glock 19 or the .40 glock thats similar (glock 23 maybe?). im not pretending to be an expert, that is "of the few guns i've shot" my answer.

The Colt .38 in my avatar. It's Hellatiously accurate and for sentimental reasons.

one pistol?

a daewoo in .40 cal

HUH...DAEWOO???? the same guys who make cheap tvs???

YEP...in my mind, they make one of the best 1911 pistol and an ever better battle rifle...both tested in the korean DMZ!

If not a Daewoo..then a kimber.

But if we are talking a rifle....a vepr ak-47.
