That's terrible news. I replied to a post of his today not having a clue that he'd never be responding. He was always a great encouragement in my wild projects and looking back I'd say he helped me to reach where I am today in gun knowledge and skill.

I'm very sad to hear that he's gone. I hope that his pain was short and that he's much happier looking down on us than talking to us.

He had been having a rough time lately with his health. I'm glad his pain is over, but we have indeed lost a good friend. His last post over there was to welcome a new member to the forum. He always had excellent advice, and we all learned from him. Now, we must pass his knowledge on as we can.
He was just starting a couple of young neighbor lads into the pleasures of hunting. They lost a mentor and father figure.
His long-time companion, Loretta, lost the love of her life.
May the Good Lord keep and protect him, and bless the family.
Lars Hawk was one of the great ones.

I remember Lars from the 'old days'...and, yes, he was a knowledgable, sensible and tolerant person that will be missed.

Unhappy

I'm sorry to hear about Lars. I first remember him when he was a very active G&G member back before June 2002 during the old format.

I'm going to make sure to recognize him when I finish the 35 caliber AK that he helped to inspire.

Yup, Lars was one of the originals here, with the old format, when I first started shininhg around. It is nice to see that he was still thought of highly here.

Lars was a good man with more than his fair share of crap handed to him. He took it all and kept on going. He will be missed.

But here is a toast to Lars Hawk and a prayer of support to Loretta who has to try and make her way alone now....

Here is to you Lars, and the happiness that you are no longer in pain and a prayer for Lorettas support and that you are in a better place. :cheer:
