Wonder how many nice old '69 Chargers they destroyed in this flick? I used to cringe when I saw them make a jump, and see the frontend buckle just before the shot changed. Or, The General takes a whack that you know would have MAACO working all weekend to fix - but next scene, he's pristine again. I envision a junkyard somewhere with a whole row of smashed and battered Orange '69 Chargers. :jaw:
A mate of mine is a complete Dukes fool, he has a documentary about the making of the old series and it comes up in that how many they wrecked. Was a few hundred I think... Ma Mopar made a few though, woulda taken a while to run out of them.

Over the course of the series, they used 229 Chargers and 19 survived. So they destroyed a total of 210.
I wonder how long it will take someone to paint the new Dodge Charger like the General. Does anyone remember what the name and make of the other "General" car?

i heard on tv today they went thru 26 69 chargers making this new film...now daisy would have to be naked and extremely drunk and at my friggin house to make it worth that many chargers! its a cryin' shame actually. there are two chargers left in my town. one is a complete rust bucket and the other is nice but looks like some yahoo slapped a daytona wing on it. i could be wrong but didnt all the chargers that had a wing also have the wedge front end? 69' daytona charger
I am pretty certain that only charger R/T daytona`s came with the uber tall wing. It was a homoglation objective with these cars, to get them compliant for NASCAR racing, as a seller they were a bit hard, tough to get into a garage, the trunk lid whacked the wing etc. The Plymouth superbird I am sure had things like Coronet front fenders, and to facilitate the flush rear back light ( rear window ) required much leading and hence why the bird had a vinyl top. BUT! very very VERY wild and cool cars, the likes of which we have come to expect from Ma Mopar.
The aero Dodge was Daytona, and the Plymouth was a Super Bird. Despite their apparance their power trains where almost tame. The package was a "body style" option while the power train was its own option - the two were not linked. Local dealership (since closed) had a Super Bird that never made it off the showroom floor, came with a bench seat, auto transmission and a 400 engine. A true original (even a pile rust) will bring over $30K, while one like that dealership had would be well north of $100K.
As for the movie, I heard the car put on the best show, the rest could easily have been a rewrite from the original series - with slightly better looking actors with less talent.

All I rememeber was it was a dark color. Sorry, My brain doesn't work as well as it used to.
Don't know if this is what you're thinking of but the General Lee was a black charger they bought from the impound yard.(it had been used in a robbery) Cooter painted it hemi orange because it was the only color of paint he had enough of.
There are 3 of us at work who have Ford Windstar company Vans. Two of the older gentlemen were talking about problems they had with thiers. (All minor) I sat quietly doing my work. One guy ask what problems Iv'e had, None I reply. How is that so the other ask. I tell them you gotta drive a Ford like ya stole it. Drive it like !!!! and it will love it. Pounding the crap out of it is the only thing it understands!
They both look at me like I'm nuts. Do ya'll think ther may be something to that? Me being nuts?
To recap, I think that roadrunner I am refering to ( I think it was yellow ) well, I thought it was Luke`s, but dukes freak friend said it was Daisys, I said what about her jeep? he says nah that R`runner was hers.. It was a `74 model I think, about when they got ugly and bulburous and emasculated the 440 with smog shizzle. I had a Hemi orange car, it was closer to red, I would say the general was Vitamin C which was the plymouth name for that shade, I forget what dodge called it. EDIT: Gomango.. thats what dodge called Vitamin C .. its a play on words; go man go, but pronounced go mango. Hemi orange was called Tor red ( torrid) by Plymouth and best describes the colour, its an orangey sorta bright red.
