Sex offenders ousted!

I like it! As usual tho, the frikken ACLU is whining about it. It must be really hard to live with the results of your actions, huh?

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Sex offenders tracked by the state are banned from public hurricane shelters in Florida under a new policy that allows them to weather the storms in prison instead.

The policy was created to keep sex offenders and predators away from children, said Robby Cunningham, spokesman for the Department of Corrections. Offenders who go to a prison will stay in areas such as visitor or meeting rooms, he said.

"They are not incarcerated," Cunningham said Saturday. "We don't want them on the streets. We don't want them violating their probation either."

The policy only affects sex offenders under state supervision who are not allowed near children. They can go to a prison if their evacuation address given to authorities can't be used or is deemed unacceptable, Cunningham said. He did not know how many sex offenders could be affected.

The policy took effect at the beginning of hurricane season, June 1. Six offenders stayed in prisons during Hurricane Dennis in July.

Sex offenders have to sign a form that outlines instructions, wear an ID badge, and they can be searched by authorities at any time.

Randall Marshall, legal director of the Florida ACLU, said the policy could push sex offenders out of the supervision of authorities.

"If you take people who have served their sentence and are released from prison and try to (reinstate) themselves in society, the more steps you take to isolate and ostracize them ... there are very few options for them to live their lives and not reoffend," he said.

While I think sex offenses are extremely serious, I'd favor more prison time and restitution over a neon sign over their heads and a permanent forcefield between them and any place that might possibly ever have children in it.

I would just as soon see a neon sign over the heads of all the murderers, thieves, and other types of criminals. I care about the safety of children more than anything, but I think I have a right to feel discriminated against where the folks who would be more likely to harm ME are less monitored. Then again, being an adult, I do have CCW.

Sex offenses are by far one of the crimes with the highest recitivism rate. The offenders are most likely never to correct their behaviors, thinking, etc.

Yet they are released back into the same hunting ground from which they took their prey. That doesn't make judicial sense to me.

Consequently, I see additional prison time as only an added tax payer's expense and management headache for the officials that have to look as these scum bags on the other side of the bars.

I would like to see.....honestly knowing I'm liable to be criticized.....capital punishment be legalized for cases involved in certain (as in "we are absolutely 100% sure this idiot did this crime") sex offenses that are heinous or acted upon children, mentally retarded persons or those unable to responsibly act or think for themselves.

Then I would like to see the avenues of appeals be removed and the capital punishment be quick and public.

Some critics say that capital punishment is not a deterant.

My response is that no one that has been executed has ever committed another crime.

I'd be open to the idea, I also think "involuntary servitude" allowed in the 13th Amendment as punishment for a crime should be practiced much more, especially in the case of rape, whether of adults or children. Proceeds should fund a system that helps the victims recover in the short and long term, and in the case of causing pregnancy, helps to support the mothers who choose to raise the children and adoption agencies for those who choose that option.

But capital punishment has its good points.

Wink

Sex offenders should be castrated ASAP. Let them heal their wounds in prison and then release them eventually with imbedded monitoring devices in place. Any further sex related crimes by them should result in at least one inch cut off their penises for each re-occuring incident. :jaw:

OX....I once favored castration or chemical desire modifiers but science has found that males having been castrated still commit unspeakable acts and males and females (since castration doesn't work on females) who have undergone chemical modifiers also have some desires and have been known to act out on those desires even while under the effects of the medication.

There have been many published journals discribing the executions of enochs after they were found to be flitting around the old harem and having a ball with the Sultan's women, LOL.

I still profess execution....it works every time.

My ONLY concern about capital punishment is that it is used when it is 100% sure of the criminal's acts (as in verified admissions, ample undisputed eye witnesses and with total lack of any circumstantial evidence).

I'm with you there, Dale. And in the case of rape (of an adult or juvenile) there's biological evidence to consider as well.

I am still a fan of capitol punishment for sex offenders. They do not add anything to the world they live in other than a need for defensive planning so why not take them all out of the gene pool we would all sleep better
