Never. A Hi-Point is still a Hi-Point, snicker snicker, guffaw.

I like the altered pistol design, but the carbine not so much. If they produced a few more stocks like folding stocks I think they might sell. The stock on the current carbine feels comfortable to me so I would leave that alone but the barrel shroud could be changed some. And a few shooters like my dad doesn't like the revolver style grip so I would maybe straighten the grip some. I wish they had the Older models still in production (The JH's I think...). If they produced them I think with a better accesory rail and more finishes I think Hi Point would sell more guns.

My carbine looks much sleeker with the compact scope on the weaver rail replacing that kludgey rear sight, and I removed the barrel shroud and front sight. Much better. The other thing I want to change is the trigger shape - it doesn't fit my trigger finger very well. An AR-15 styled PG would look better too.

That's not much of a change (wouldn't impact cost )
and it doesn't exactly make it look sexier in my view.
I like the way the big pistols look, its the compacts that could be sexed up if you ask me.

Even though everyone has their own point of view, You got to admit,PRO- it's good to see a company trying to cater to the budgets of the consumer. CON-Though it does pose a problem with being so affordable that it can cause some trouble.
Then again, our members here at Gun and Game appreciate all sorts of firearms. Who else in the "modern" world will jump to defend a Mosin Nagant?

:right: That's the idea, Joe! If I can ever strip this puppy down and out of the funky plastic stock, I'll see about changing to a nice 1911 trigger. I want to enlarge the triggerguard too - it rubs my finger badly.

Looks as though there are more wookies here than Hi-Point haters or prospective buyers of improved Hi-Points.

They look very fugly and after looking at one in the local shop thought it felt bad too. They would need a lot of improvement for me to even put it on the list of guns I want to get.

I don't think hi-point's have ANY problem selling.
I have wanted to add the .40 and .45 models to my store and gun shows since the recent shooting times review, and valor (my main distributor) plus a couple other distributors have NONE IN STOCK!!!!!!!!!

My first and only hand gun is the Hi-Point 9mm. I had never shot a hand gun before this one. My father got it for me for Christmas after my wife and I moved to the big city after growing up in the country. The first time I shot it was when I went out with my friend to the range. I will agree the thing is a lot more heavy than I like. Also I have never been confertable with the trigger wiggle. The other complaint I have is that the gun is a pain to take apart to clean. And it does need to be cleaned a lot and left with a lot of oil for it to shoot right the next time.
But other than that it is a good basic hand gun. The aim isn't the best, but you normally don't need much when its main duty is for home defence. I am looking to replace it. Plus with it being a local gun maker, it is nice for the repairs. My father has had a couple of there guns repaired by them and everything went very smooth.

I found a Hi-Point .45 in a gun store for $129 last night. MSRP is $169, which is about what most shops have been selling them for, with the exception of two shops going up to $269. I snagged it and brought it home.
Today, I took a buddy with me shooting. He has been wanting to buy his first handgun. This was our second time to the range, and he got to fire several .22s, .380, .45, 9mm, and 7.62X25. He wants a CZ52, but also realizes that for a home defense gun, he might want something for which he can walk into any gun store or Wal-Mart and get ammo.
I had recommended a .380 or .357 snubby, but he likes the autos. Since I just got the new Hi-Point, he tried it out and loved it. He now owns it and is a happy camper. Now he gets to buy ammo, cleaning supplies, and learn about his new investment.
The .45 sure is better looking than the .380 I own.

I hear good things about them. Granted I'd prefer something else for home defense but it's good to see a reliable firearm for people who may not be able to afford a Smith and Wesson. What's even better is that it's an American company. I may pick me up one of them one of these days.

If the Hi-Points help arm the people who cannot afford a Glock, Smith, Sig, Colt, Walther, and the like then so be it. I don't personally like them that well. I have shot a couple and the review from me would be lackluster. However, not everyone is fortunate and has a hard time making it. I fully believe the working man/woman has a right to an affordable firearm that they could rely on in a crisis. Hi-Points seem to fill the bill here.
It's nice that Tommy appreciates Hi-Ponits so well. I do not agree on comparing AK's to Hi-Points, though. No way would a Hi-Point be better than an AK.
Too, the criminal element like them. Lots of them around here in raids and such. Not to mention on the perps' side when they get popped at their mobile meth labs.
On the other side, I have seen people use them legally for defending their homes and lives. I do not try to talk someone into getting another weapon for defense and I do not downplay their choice in weaponry. When asked if they made the right choice, the simple answer is "You're still here, right? That's all that matters".......
