Need Handgun Suggestions

Hey there, I need your honest, informed, and experienced opinions!

My local gun stores always lean towards what gun has the best hollywood appeal or what they can get the best money for.

I've used in the past a Beretta 92FS, Glock 22, and a Springfield GI 4in Full Grip. So far 1911A1 style full grip stands out because its perfect for my hand. However due to my living conditions a .45 probably wouldn’t be the best option. I’m thinking a 9mm Luger 1911A1 variant, heresy I know, or maybe there are other options I haven't seen...
Suggestions? Arguments? Links?

The Price: Around $500, some change is negotiable

The Caliber: Something I can pick up at the local walmart, leaning towards 9mm Luger, but i'm open to suggestions

The Usage: Fishing, Hunting, Snake Charmer, Truck Gun, Plinking & Home Defense

If I forgot any other info for preferences, let me know

Thanks in advance!

i own a CZ75 in 9mm and i love it. a great, and dependable gun. way within the price range you set. they are built on the 1911 style as well.

Yeah, I love my CZ85. I might also consider a Ruger P95DC or a Glock 19.

Another plug for CZ here. They are a very solid, reliable gun, especially for the price. I'd suggest a CZ P-01 or a CZ 75

I bought a used Glock 17 for $300. It has never malfunctioned. It is also very light to carry and easy to maintain. These guns are almost indestructable. The 19 is a shortened version that should serve you well.

Take a look at the Charles Daly 1911 .45's I saw a NIB stainless match target mod . on gunbroker for under $400. These and the new Taurus 1911 got very good reviews in the Rags that tested them. The Taurus hasn't been released yet but should be soon.

Exclamation Thanks

Okay well I was in luck that a gunshow was in town this weekend so I could try out the grips on some suggestions, as well as ask questions. Also hit the local gun store for the same reason today. Now I don't claim in anyway to be an expert on these findings, but they were my findings.

9mms
Glocks: These guns of different sizes just don't feel right in my hands
Steyr M: Felt good, bit pricey, had some good features but there must have been something wrong with that particular gun - I looked at the side and saw daylight between the slide and frame. Maybe its supposed to be like that?
Star: The BM had a Good price, but parts are too hard to come by
Para Ordnance: Good 1911A1 9mm, but too expensive
Llama: Nothing but bad reviews from people around here
Ruger P-Series: Maybe someday in a decocker
Baby Eagle: Felt great, and I liked the weight of it, as well as the price.
Beretta: Doesn't feel right in my hands, and don't think I could aim with one hand (if necessary)
CZs: Same as the baby eagle, maybe in a decocker

Well the top of the list are; CZ decocker and a Baby Eagle. Wish I could fire them first to finalize it, oh well. I'll flip a coin or something later lol

Thanks for your feedback everyone!

Makarovs are great guns, however Wally World doesn't sell 9x18

I found that out the other day after seeing the post, shame.

Maybe a Kel-Tec P11 (wish it had longer grips) for a +P tag along
