finally finished

im finally finished with getting all the parts on my yugo on. i got the dragonuv stock put on, scope and scope mount, 5 rd detachable mag, gas piston, and operating rod. took it out to shoot it yesterday and i was pretty pleased with the way it all worked...of course the only thing i had problem with was the magazine. but i figured out that if you loaded it a certain way that it would work every time. i plan on buying a 20 rd and a bipod next week. ill get pictures up once i get my digital back from my sister

Usually you manage to find a few that are good, after buying many that aren't. A friend says that the synthetics treat him the best.

really? one of my friends said that metal and plastics dont go good together. which i would have agreed with before i bent the spring inside the clip to make it work. plus i kinda feel stupid for buying a five round clip when the rifle had a ten round to begin with

I had the opposite luck with the synthetic mags - garbage!
I bought three Cobray mags some years back, and was very displeased. But, I hate to return anything, so I took the challenge to improve them.
Had to do the following:
A) The followers were the wrong angle - the bullets hit the bottom of the chamberface. I built them up with JB Weld and a strip of Stainless Steel sheet metal.
B) The inside of the mag body had some mold lines, making the follower stick. More JB Weld, and a good sanding & polishing inside, including sides of the followers.
C) The most serious problem, the feed lips were way too thick and squared off. Bolt couldn't move forward or back. I filed, reshaped and thinned the feed lips.

After essentially re-engineering the mags, they went from 0% function to about 90% function. I still can't trust them in a serious shootout.

These mags were half the cost of the steel ones - until I add in the labor to fix them!
