Calvin if I only fuel at the field I get a wholesale rate since the field houses my plane but if I fuel somewhere else I am sure it would be near 4 a gallon and 1 hour of flight means $32. But that does get me 125 miles.

Gonna get worse here today-price is going up a minimum of $.25/gallon, putting it at $3.60/gallon.
People here at work are living paycheck to paycheck and are having a tough time making the gas prices fit into their budgets. Lots of them are saying they are shutting off their home phones (keeping cell phones), cutting cable, and Road Runner.
Trickle-down effect at its best......

Nearly all our stations in Tallahassee, Florida were empty or nearly so Friday. Friday evening, the gas tanker trucks slid into town. Saturday around noon, I topped of my little car and filled a 5-gallon jerrycan. Supplies are better now, but I paid $3.06 a gallon.

Question wonder if these guys are up and running ?

Calcasieu Refining Company is located on the Calcasieu Ship Channel near Lake Charles, Louisiana and in the very heart of the Gulf Coast refining and petrochemical area. It has the processing facilities, location, financial position, technical expertise and management leadership necessary to stay competitive in today's rapidly changing business environment.

Calcasieu Refining currently has an operating capacity of 32,000 barrels per day. Calcasieu Refining is continuously looking to develop additional capacity while lowering operating costs.

The fundamentals of hydrocarbon processing and distribution have guided Calcasieu's success. Calcasieu Refining benefits greatly from an excellent location centered in the Gulf Coast hydrocarbon processing complex. Built on thirty-three acres on the Calcasieu Ship Channel five miles southwest of Lake Charles, Louisiana in Calcasieu Parish, the refinery is less than one mile from the Intracoastal Waterway.

GAP BETWEEN RICH AND POOR WIDENS

Get ready for a barrage of stupid headlines about how the gap between the rich and poor is widening. You see, the media is engaged in an all-out war against President George Bush. They want to do to him what they did to his father in 1992, which is to invent media fantasies about how bad the economy is. It's all part of the standard Bush-bashing and rampant media bias. Because most people are educated in government schools, it's easy to peddle such nonsense to an unsuspecting public with no basic education in economics.

Doom and gloom sells...and people love to play the part of the victim. They don't want to believe reality, which is that their lot in life is a direct result of the decisions they have made. If they've made good decisions, they're doing well. If not, then they're not. It's all up to them, not the government. Anyway, it should come as no surprise that the media and the left are now wringing their hands about how "the income gap is widening" between the rich and poor. Why, it's the widest it's ever been, and it's only gotten wider over the course of two decades!

As the lie goes, the rich got richer...they got tax breaks from Republicans while those at the middle and the bottom of the pay scale got the shaft. If you listen to the media, they'll practically tell you that George W. Bush himself broke into poor people's houses, stole their penny jars, and gave them directly to rich people.

Accompanying these news stories will be profiles of pathetic, whining victims of their own bad decisions who talk about how hard it is "to get ahead" or how hard it is to raise X number of children on one income. Never in these "woe is me" tales do we hear anyone taking responsibility for the situation they have created for themselves. It's always the government's fault (particularly George Bush's.) Immediately The Poodle or some other Democrat tells us that they need to confiscate more money from those that earned it and give it to those that did not.

The so-called gap between the rich and poor is widening because the rich are working harder to earn more money, and the poor are not. Why is that so hard for the left and the mainstream media to understand?

Remember... Poverty is a behavioral disorder. The rich keep getting richer because they keep doing the things that make them rich. Ditto for the poor.

i just dont get how the government expects people to buy the story about natural gas production being down? here in oklahoma back in the late 70's they gas companies just went nuts drilling gas wells and capping them when they hit gas. i have seen geological study maps of oklahoma when i was in construction and from a bit north west of tulsa all the way down past idabell is the largest natural gas field on earth! and i guarantee ya that you cant throw a dart at a map of oklahoma without hitting a gas well site or at least be within a mile or so of one. but their all capped off...like their saving it for some reason?...idunno man? just dont make sense to me.

Heard on the news today crude oil production rose slightly even with 79% of the oil rigs down.

It is a market economy. Simple supply and demand. If we keep paying higher prices, who is to say they shouldn't raise em??? A market economy works best with the least .gov intervantion.

As consumers we are a lazy bunch. When we (consumers, collectively) do something about it, they will do something about it. If we stop buying fuel they will drop the price of fuel to entice us to buy. We are in control of prices, but we never act the part.

I don't think that's possible. I don't even think it's plausible. They've got us by the short hairs and they know it.

More like they know we're lazy. We COULD do it, but we won't. It is your helpless attitude that fuels their version of an oil economy. If we banded together and proved to them that we will not tolerate high prices, we could make a difference. But instead what do we do? We panic buy and stock up - driving prices up even higher.
